Review: Industry Summer Magic
They did it again, what an amazing party these always end up being.
Got there just after 11 and pretty much walked right in, line up was no more than 20 people so I thought it would be empty inside. It wasn't empty, there was already a decent sized crowd there all dancing with big smiles on their faces. There is just something about these Industry parties that bring out a great crowd and even more amzing vibe. You can't help but smile and just join in the fun.
Matt C - I really like his style and he opened up perfectly (although he did have a couple tangents where he almost lost me, but he always brought it back) a nice blend of new stuff and some real classics.
Cevin F - he really stole the night for me, talk about proper house - it wasn't "hard", "dirty", "techy", "chuggy", "sleezy", "circuit", (insert any genre you want to put in here) it was just proper house which grabbed everybody and made them smile more and dance.
John A - caught the end of his set and he was great as well, very pounding compared to Fisher
Heather - Amazing, surprise of the night for me since I had never seen her before - spent most of the rest of my night there
Victor C - a big MEH - started off really great when I first went back into the main room but he quicky lost me...but others seemed to enjoy it
So I guess in summary - Industry was amazing. The crowd was diverse(gays, str8, bi, tri..., young, my age, old, black, white, asian,...) as expected, but not one group overwhelemed the others, everyone was doing there own thing and enjoying themselves...what can I say "Industry" knows how to throw a party still which bridges many gaps. Can't wait for the next one.
those passes colin had were mighty tempting Jay! glad I went to bed though as I woke up with a sore throat

I had fun!
Matt C was awesome!
Cevin Fisher - first 90 minutes was good. After that he lost me.
Celeda was a nice show.
Victor Calderone - first hour was really good!
But then it got repetitive, then we went minimal-ish. Overall I really did enjoy his set.
Left just before and my body is aching. 'Twas a good night!
Amazing party, awesome vibe all night. Best crowd I've seen since Sonic, and the best crowd I've ever seen at Docks.
I spent almost the entire night upstairs in the Hard & Soul room. It was everything I haven't heard in a long time. Frankie Feliciano was my pick of the night.
Caught Victor in the morning. He had so many rhythms going on and kept switching it up so often that I couldn't even move. Really, all I could do was just stand there and let it wheelchair me. I'm not sure what time it was...maybe around 6 ish? 6:30? But he was playing a track that sounded like funeral parlour music...really dark and ferocious sounding synth, loved it. Anyone remember that??
Anywho, great fucking night. And how about those fireplaces upstairs?? That whole area up there was dope! Really glad I decided to go to this party. My face hurts from grinning all night, and my bum and thighs are aching from gettin' down!
What a fucking Awsome party
, Specially Music wise ...
All DJs brought their A game ...
DJs i saw last night :
Doc Martin : Tnx god finally i saw this guy live ,& he didnt disappoint at all , he played a great deep and groovy house mix you shouldnt miss , Started of funky, chunky and progressed to more Deep , "Fabric 10 "similar sound ... i really enjoyed his set
John Acquaviva: he took over the decks around 2:30 am ,& he totally changed the sound & energy level of the room ... Acquaviva kicked off with some electro tracks. Audin " Mouth to Mouth " was one of them . overall Acquaviva played a really good set for all the aquaholics ...
DJ Heather : i didnt catch much of her set , but she was doing a good job on spininng her Funky Chicago house ...
Victor Calderon: R u guys serious about Calderon's set ?!! i wasnt even into his sound before , but he totally blew me away last night ... He dropped some seriuos Mental tunes,( some of those WTF moments, that u try to figure out what is this !!!
) ...
his set was a good mix of Minimal , Tech , Techno & Tribal house ,which was totally unexpected for me & it kept me dancing for the whole night long ... (other than his closing song)
Overall was it was an amazing night ... the vibe was OK but not outstanding, im so happy i didnt miss it
Victor is one of my fave DJs, but I found his set very underwhelming last night. The first hour was great with Dubfire's - Roadkill and The Mark Knight remix of Get Dumb as the two big tunes, but aside from "Let me set you free" and "Lucky Heather" Victor didn't play any of the bombs he has been dropping as of late?
I mean my God, no "Tech This Out"?, No DJ Vibe-YOU, No Can U relate, no bombs at all.

This was a great party, long live Industry, was so great to see so many old faces from back in the day.
As for the party, Doc Martin was the man to start it off for me, was a shame that he played so early, he really needs to be given a solid set time, or a set on his own somewhere in the city, he really has a GREAT house sound.
In the main room , Matt C was tearing it up, although Doc had my attention, Cevin came on and was really tearing it up an d the crowd seemed to be loving it, he lost me a few times, but was a bit hard to shift gears after Doc.
Celeda was fieeerce, def bring the be pyourself vibe to the party, although what was with inviting people up to dance with her, damn it was the high of the high people that b=lined to the stage, it was Celda featuring MOI sketch lol.
Victor came on and really changed the vibe of the room, I love his evolved sound, minimal, tech, with that infused drums and house sound, very hot, I do feel he did leave some of his energy at Pacha, and as well considering he had to play aty Neptunes at noon.
All in all a great time, good mixed crowd, only complaints, the bathrooms were nassty, water everywhere, but it would not be industry without out leaky dripping water. Hard to find the other rooms, there were rooms upstairs I never made it too. AND my biggest complaint. Sorry to all here, were the fu**in pushy bitches...I mean come on,. there muscle bound boyfriends, ginos, etc, draggin there girls around, they have no respect for anyone, I just give a good swift dancing kick to let them know I am there. Hate getting pushed around for dancing. Have some respect, toronto still needs to learn abit.
Well enough of that.....GRREAT times....look forward to my next visit to Toronto...by 8am we were done.....thought about Rene at CZ but happend to late in the day.

* Vibe - agreed! For the most part great vibe and tons of smiles.
* Matt C - gotta disagree, he was the dj I was most disappointed with. I thought his mixing was lacking and fairly uninspired. I also thought short of the classics he dropped, that the rest of the tunes were somewhat past their prime. Add a few screw-ups with some beatmatching and sound completely cut out and I was left unimpressed.
* Cevin Fisher - 100% agree. Straight up PROPER house that drew everyone in and had the place kickin'! His attitude was infectious as well.
* The tunes in the other room on the ground floor (I think it was the electro-techno room) were sick too. Could never quite tell who was spinning but I was always impressed walking through the room early in the night and we spent the end of our night there.
all in all a good night ![]()
