Evil1 Sick of Trojans

Any advice how to get rid of them ? My antivirus keeps popping up this little window telling me a trojan has been detected and deleted. Currently, I have six of these little horses in my computer.

Generic Packed
Downloader-EV
Downloader-BCF
Generic AdClicker.d
FakeAlert-l.dr
Generic Spy.B

I understand they possess a low security threat. But trojans are annoying and I don't want them in my computer. I read reviews on trojan softwares and downloaded the one with the best review : Trojan Hunter. And it didn't even detect a single trojan.

Anyways, I'm tired of this shit and I wana kick the trojans out of my system. Any decent solutions ? I can run Hijackthis on my system and post the log if anybody knows how to deal with it (personally I don't, so I need advice on that). And no, don't tell me to stop watching pr0n on my computer, cause I don't browse explicit pr0n websites.

gotta also stop browsing TA then.

yeah can you post your HijackThis! log? maybe we can help you sort through what you don't need. what sucks now is that sneaky viruses now do not install themselves in the autorun section, but more as a service or under the WinLogon, where it's sometimes impossible to stop.

A2 HiJackFree

also FREE!

I got most of them fixed now. At least I don't get any more pop ups. Dunno how that happened.

Posted by TSG on Jun-05-2007 22:09:

what did you use?

Posted by Omega_M on Jun-08-2007 03:10:

i have again started getting popups from my antivirus that I have fucking trojans wtf is this shit ?

Posted by biznology on Jun-08-2007 17:05:

AntiVir sorted me out when my comp acted up, its free and more robust than AVG. it has a popup when it updates once a night, but then again it updates, is free, and doesnt screw everything else up like Norton|

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jun-09-2007 07:52:

most probably you have some viral stuff installed under your Local WinLogon registry keys or Run registry key. got to check those suckers out and see if they look bad to you.

Posted by Omega_M on Jun-09-2007 21:33:

how the hell am I supposed to do that ? any pointers ?

Posted by LiquidNitrogen on Jun-10-2007 13:42:

To block popups and insane ads, install firefox and then adblock plus extension

Remove norton or mcafee based crapola, install the genuine but free anti vir such as AVAST home edition or AVG

If nothing works learn how to use linux, you'd never come back (unless you want to play video games)

At this point I would suggest sending the machine in to a good repair place instead of risking f**king up your system's registry (which is a good way to turn your machine into a paperweight!)

Try booting your machine in Safe Mode and running your anti-virus. You may be able to zap those trojans when they have less access than on a normal boot...

Its hard to help when I don't know exactly whats coming up on your machine and other little details that can't be found out just from postings. Good luck

yeah I pmed LeopoldStotch my Hijackthis log and I think that was his response. Dunno if I should post my log on a forum.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jun-20-2007 03:35:

yeah sorry i didn't respond back. With the number of malicious activity that you listed, the probability that you can fix this without re-formatting is very small. most definately the stupid viruses infected the key startup areas in your Run and WinLogon subkey entries. you can make the attempt to find some software to clean them out, clean them yourself, or save yourself the trouble and reformat.

sorry to break the bad news. . but yeah it's cool to post your log here.

the best solution is to get 56k... that shit is so slow youre doing them a favor by getting rid of their viruses

Posted by Omega_M on Jun-24-2007 21:12:

err...no thanks. i'd rather keep my faster connection.

My security setup:
AVG-Free
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-ant...e/lng/us/tpl/v5
I use this for anti-virus. I run it twice a week overnight. I never run live scans of anything that goes into my computer, fucking slow as shit. I usually just use my brain for that.

http://www.safer-networking.org/
Spybot S&D
Nothing else compares to this. McCaffee and Norton (not the best examples, but its better to talk about them since they are held in the highest regard among the general Best Buy Computer Whizzzzzzzzzz) have made statements saying they are no match for Spybot, which is programmed "from the heart", "dedicated to my love" or something like that. (i run it maybe once a week)

Firefox+AdblockPlus as has already been mentioned.

Common sense, don't open everything like a myspace douche would. Use ONLY trusted anti-malware software (people will masquerade their programs as anti-virus, but it's actually a virus, lolz) and ONLY from official websites(people will set up entire sites that look like legit hosts for Norton, but the EXE will be a virus, lolz)

my last line of defense before reformatting would be to just run all the anti-virus/spyware you have at startup or in safe mode(if you have not already done so), so that no external DLL files/startup programs that have nothing to do with vanilla windows interfere.

And use Firefox instead of IE.

Posted by Omega_M on Jul-13-2007 16:31:

I only use Firefox.

Posted by Omega_M on Jul-13-2007 16:32:

Looks like I finally managed to get rid of those bastards. I used quite a few programs one after the other. I ran them in Normal Mode and in Safe Mode. Anything to rid my computer of that stuff. So here's a list of all those programs, if you guys want to try.

VundoFix -- hunts and removes Vundo.
Ad-Aware
AFT Cleaner -- cleans up all the junk folders. Nice little tool
Combofix -- Works in DOS window. No frills program.
SuperAntiSpyware -- This was recommended on some security website.
Trend Micro House Call --- Online scan and removal
A trial version of Kaspersky

Kaspersky is by far the best shit out there. I uninstalled my University licensed Mcafee and installed a trial version. It got rid of all the trojans. Lucky for me, I didn't have any virus on my laptop. But the trial will get over in 30 days...so I gotta figure out what to do after that. Maybe I'll go back to McAfee or use AVG Free edition.

Any recommendations for a free and awesome antivirus ?
