The Tranceaddict Psyunite Project: Phase 2 *submit your Psy tunes here!*

Okay, here we enter teh next episode of our wonderful Psyunite mix project. ... I hope you people enjoy this project and submit a lot of tracks.

here is the original post, a few things are new in episode 2 so make sure you check out the FAQ

quote:

I just had the idea we could make something similar to the Tranceaddicts Unite mix of unsigned tracks. I love to listen to Mixes and Sets because it provides a better flow of the music. However, I am mostly into Psy and I know here are quite a bit of Psy producers, so I thought, why dont we make a mix of good unsigned Amateur Producers' Psytrance tracks.

FAQ

Who can enter?

any Tranceaddict member who has at least 50 Posts or presented at least 3 tracks in this forum.

Which tracks can I submit?

Basically anything that is Psychedelic Trance in any form. This includes Full-On, Goa Trance, Progressive Psy, Dark Psy, and all the other subgenres. However, I will have the last words if your track is Psy or not. For example, a melodic trance track with just a little Psy elements will most likely not be accepted.
Since this is an amateur mix, only unsigned tracks will be accepted. Of course only complete tracks are wanted, samples or fragments are invalid.

How can I submit?

Easy. Just post a link to your track (or the thread where you posted your track) including artist and track title information in this thread. If you dont have the webspace, you can still use [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
. If I am somehow unable to retrieve your track, I'll ask for your help.

IMPORTANT: The mix will be in 192kbps mp3, so please submit only mp3s of at least 192kbps!!!

- note: there is always a quality loss when mixing a 192kbps file, save it to wav and compress to 192kbps mp3 again. So, the higher the bitrate, the better!

Is there any kind of selection?

Yes. I will do the mix, I will select the tracks. However I am aware of the fact that we are mostly amateurs, so dont expect me to make a very harsh selection. If your mastering is totally bad or if your track doesnt please me at all (which doesnt occur often, dont be afraid ), I reserve the right to exclude the track from the mix. The bar will raise as there enter more tracks, but first of all be sure I am very happy for any track you submit.
If I am still undecided, Members of the Psy/Tech/Experimental alliance will get precedence before others.

How many tracks can I submit?

First of all, only one. I want any producer to get the opportunity to get one of their tracks into the mix. If after some time there is still enough space left, you will get the opportunity to get a second or maybe a third track into the mix. However, the bar will rise dramatically for second tracks. It has to be really good to make it into the mix then.

Any facts on the mix?

The mix will be in 192kbps mp3 and will be offered for download from my webspace when it is finished. The length will be around 2 hours maximum.
I cant tell how many tracks I will include because I have no idea how many submissions I'll get.
Please note I can not include any track in full length, but I think I can guarantee you 3 minutes minimum length per track in the mix.

Who will do the mix?

I will do it. However, I am not a Pro at mixing at all. I have not done many mixes so far, and there still were some minor errors with beatmatching and EQing inside. I can not guarantee you the most perfect mix. Anyway, I can assure you I will do my best with this mix.
IMPORTANT:
I do not want to turn this into a DJ competition, but some members could do their own mixes with the tunes submitted here. I did this on Psynews, and it is nice to see how others planned their mix.

**deadline**: The first deadline is July 1st.
The earlier you submit, the more advantage you will get in selection.

Enough of all those FAQ? Then go and submit!

I think im gonna try and make a psy tune just for this. Never done one before so we'll see how it will work out. I'm thinking along the lines of Astral Projection...

Posted by Subtle on May-31-2007 08:23:

Half finished with my first psy track ever

Posted by Chris Crossland on May-31-2007 08:35:

This is harder than i thought...

Posted by MegaMan on May-31-2007 21:13:

usually, at the end, when the track is technically complete, those 10% take 90% of the total work

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Jun-02-2007 01:45:

I've decided. I finished this one a few weeks ago. Some nice full-on to go in the mix.

jex - Disappear
8:06 | 144 BPM | 320 kbps

The bar is lifting on this mix I see.

your track is sounding good Jex.

Hi,

So I took this opportunity as a challenge to produce my first Psy beats. I ran it by a couple forum members (in the IRC chat, thanks for the listen guys) and they seemed to give it a thumb's up.

Here it is in the original 153bpm and a slower (albiet less fun) 145bpm. I suppose the 145 is better, after listening for a while.

Looking forward to the mix!

Very cool!
@ Bidor: Who would want to miss this one mate .. good stuff!

@ jex: Your tune sounds very good, great synths and clean production. I would spice up the highs and upper mids, otherwise I consider your track included

@connector: Good ones! Very atmospheric tracks. First of all, you only get one track in the mix, thats why I put one of them back, but it doesnt mean its not wanted. Very nice stuff!

@3F05Q: I like it as well ... I also prefer the 145 version. But with dj software, things can be speeded up and slowed down easily.. no problem at all.

@Xeno, Subtle and Speactra: I know your tracks will kick ass, cant wait to hear them

Posted by Sunclyder on Jun-03-2007 12:33:

United Minds is ready!!

Posted by Darkarbiter on Jun-04-2007 01:29:

there are some issues, in general however, big sound for a small man, instrumentation, structure, concept and rhythm are all present at their edge, impressive.

Ok, I just got a demo up. I think it will be this one I send.
It's called "Trollfljten", swedish for "The Trollflute", it means that the flute will spellbound or enchant you if you listen to it. It's not finished yet, but here's a taste.
I just played it on a good pair of speakers in the woods this night and i couldnt believe it sounded so good! This is the first track i made with my new headphones (Sennheiser HD25), i'm really happy with them.

i just listened to your track man, the beggining is sick, but your kick seems to dominate the spectrum i think its cuz you equalized it too much, and theres hardly any bass, what you want to do is cut some of that high eq on your kick and add some crisp to yer bass

Yes, i bandpassed the bassline very low, it's very subtle, it needs some more eq'ing. Also the kick as you say, but gosh, i really felt the bassline pumping through my chest tonight
Thx for listening, i'll cut some kick and crisp some bass
