Question regarding Firefox
Is it normal for Firefox to have memory usage of approximately 100 MB?

Actually mine now is at 115 MB and I have no fucking clue why.
100 MB seems a bit excessive. Depending on plugins, it should be around about the 60 MB mark.

no plugins going though.
mine is @ 45 right now....
It's alright now, currently @ 57 MB with 3 tabs open. After restarting it completely it goes to ~30 MB. Really have no idea why it went over 100 MB about 2 hours ago, though...
I love Firefox, could never go back to IE, but does anyone else get that annoying glitch where windows just disappear from the taskbar, desktop and everywhere, then re-appear at a random time, maybe five minutes or five hours afterwards?
It's doing my head in, especially when I've been looking at "sensitive" information at work, which always reappears just as my manager walks past.

mine will get up to 100 a lot of the time. Usually after its been open a long time. right now its sittin at 50k.
Whenever I close firefox, I usually have 2 or 3 tabs open and I close all of them at once. So the next time I open the browser, firefox asks whether I want to start a new session or restart an old one. It seems to think that closing all tabs at once is an exception. I want to disable this popup. Anybody know how to do it ?
Firefox caches recently view pages so if you decide to hit 'back', it won't have to fetch it again.
Across multiple tabs, it means that a lot of pages are being stored, leading to large amounts of memory being consumed. There is a way to turn it off, or at least to use less memory, but it's not easily accessible.
Here are a few tips that you can use to reduce Firefox memory usage:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/20...in-firefox.html
http://www.liewcf.com/blog/archives...x-memory-usage/
Personally, I don't/haven't used any of the above settings, and I've seen Firefox use 200+ MB.
If you're using an older version <2.0, you should upgrade, as a few of the more common memory leaks have been fixed.
Hope this helps.

i hate firefox. IE7 is great. clean simple interface but not too simple. also it doesnt have some crazy memory leak that pushes it way over 100mb! ive never had it run over 50mb with multiple tabs open and leaving it open for days at a time. also connections are faster.

Opera || Firefox > Netscape > IE

It's actually a well known bug. Firefox (I love it) leaks like a damned seive. They keep trying to fix the issue, but I see little progress being made. It's not uncommon for it to go well over 100MB if you leave it open long enough.
