Sounds really nice but...

There is no bottom end in this track. The track is positively swimming in high freqs.

The kick has been rolled off too much. and it's just a little click in the background.

I think the bassline needs more presence and needs to drive this along. I would also consider writing an extra bass line to add some more drive.

Hi-Hats need to come down in the mix. To prominant at the moment in my ears.

I think there is a clap in there somewhere but it's so faint that it may aswell not be there.

There is some pretty decent panning in there with the lead and the lulaby style melody which works nicely.

I think the percussion over all could be reworked to beef this up and give it some energy.

A very nice track in terms of melodic values but too many technical issues to consider having this signed at the moment.

Cheers
Nem

Hey nxx

I listened Your few tracks and I see that they are
very similar... You always begin from kick and rolling bass
... then You start arp... (sounds not orginal in Your tracks)... and meybe You have a nice melodies (pads etc.)
but ... when I heard next track... sounding nearly to previus.. I'm bored... sorry

Greetz.

Melodies are fantastic and very liquid
I have to agree with the above two posts about the mixing however.
I love the lead melody and bass pattern, albeit a bit generic, and the two have great chemistry together. Get that Bass drum up and high hats down
I what delay did you use for the bulk of this song? It had me melting throughout the entire listen!
Great job! Keep us posted!

thanks for the comments and opinion

Hmm... very interesting drive... You've got to balance your choice of frequencies. Very few people listen to trance tunes because they want to crank the treble cleft...

"Just you wait until I turn up these tweeters!"

No, rather it's the bass that gets the crowd hopping.

I think if you could tip the scales towards the bass more and balance it out this could be a winner in terms of stadium power. This is an epic trancer with blazing synths that take me back ot the late 90s. Now you just gotta engineer it better.

Hey man...

just had a listen [I assume it's an updated version right?]

Sounding really nice, I think the kick really does need lifing... more in the kind of 60-150hz would give it some more warmth.

Top tip mate... pull ALL the faders down, reset all the eq, compression fx and mix it again. Try highpassing all your drum sounds to take out anything that could mess up the bottom end and work really really hard at a quiet volume on getting the kick and bass right, maybe layering over a new sample on that kick drum.

The synth work is beautiful, I just feel maybe the drums are a bit lost, a more open hi hat etc. and a bit of multiband compression could work wonders!

Overall though mate, TOP TUNE!

Cheers, Tim.

This makes me think of that Kraftwerk Tour de France song and U2's Where the Streets Have No Name. I'm going hiking in the desert in Utah next week, pretty close to the Joshua Tree National Park that Bono went to. This would be the perfect song to play while driving through the desert at night. I'd really like to be able to make a song like this. I'd be most grateful if you could listen to my song C13 and offer any suggestions you might have. Thanks for sharing this.

very nice tune. I like melodious stuff like this !! I don't give technical reviews cause I can't. Just got an "audience ear" that's it

Posted by kitphillips on Jun-22-2007 08:37:

pretty nice pads all the way through, its got good structure too, I think it could maybe do with a bit more bass or something to fill the lower mid range, preferably something with a lot of melody, as it sounds a bit too airy and "diffuse". Its a pretty good song though, and technically very nice.
I really like when the supersaw melody comes in, its an unusual use of a supersaw, but it really feels good. The pluck that comes in after this could maybe be modified to make it fill the space in the lower mids? Just use a different pluck (maybe more VA rather than FM?) something less woody sounding? Anyway, its pretty good, keep it up

Oh, BTW there was a "luminary" on anjunabeats vol 4 with a song called Amsterdam, one of my favourite tunes on that record, are you that one by any chance? If you are then just carry on, you don't need my advice

Posted by Fledz on Jun-22-2007 09:20:

Yea I have to agree with the other guys, it needs more low end. It's a bit too "washy" in the highs with too much going on. Just need to trim the sounds a little bit.

The break was a little bit of an anticlimax though. It doesn't really build up to anything before it goes into full swing again. Perhaps try and do a fake build up. At the point where you let everything go again, try and bring it down then build it up again with a stronger snare roll and more sweeps. It would really help with creating more tension and making the break better.

Otherwise definitely a great track. The melody is really nice and it's something I would buy and support

EDIT - You might want to change your artist name. A "luminary" already exists aka Arksun with Ashley Tomberlin.
