i think it was mid 80's, but could be wrong.
three friends in high school build a small spaceship in their back yard.
they fly it to space and meet some green aliens with big round faces.
i remember so little.

Which brings me to the next question for a movie.

Made about the same time, this movie involed a small boy who was an android, at the end of the movie he is flying the blackbird.
