Can trance without vocals be cheese?
I think not, since you need the 'cheesy' vocals to go with your 'lalalalala' song... (see ATC)
ummm
i think everything by pulsedriver is cheese....IMO..

it sounded decent, nothing that blew my mind, it's just the fact that mainstream america embraced the song, and little shithead kiddies used to go around thinking they were 1337 R@V0RS because they listened to darude over and over. i heard it on MTV Video Awards show for christ sake, case closed indeed.

I know most people won't admit to it but a lot of the cheese songs are likable once they're being pounded on a loud system at a club and everyone's dancing. I saw a club go nuts to 'ATB - Hold You' and I admit I was enjoying the moment.
Cheese is not so bad unless you get horribly cheesy stuff that just makes your ears bleed.

damnit...where is my cheese grater
I think Green Velvet - La La Land is a prime example of taking the $$$ and running. The song would be nothing without the sample , ppl are gonna like not because of the beats but because of the sample.

Well, a cheesy song in a while can be tolerated (as long as it's WELL made) but hey, what's the feelin in listenin for the first time to a brand new storming TRANCE tune you didn't heard of ? GREAT!

I don't think vocals are necessary for a song to be 'cheesy' except the non-vocal songs that are cheesy are usually so bad that they don't even get played on the radio (wow that must be bad) - one exception is ppk - resurrection (this is ok on a chillout cd I have but those bells/xylophone notes (whatever they are) just piss me off in the middle of a break).
PS. That ATC song isn't cheesy - those 'lalalalala's have deep emotional meanings to me..
Yes instrumental music can be cheesy.
And vocals are cheesy if they sound anything like the following :
Britney Spears, Aqua, Vengaboys, DMX, Pink, Eiffel65, Eminem, DBA (dont ask), Spice Girls...........
