Accuracy of Mixmeister BPM Analyzer?
so i downlaoded mixmeister's free BPM analyzer from here and used a calculator and figured out what percentage i would need to adjust my CDJ 800 pitch sliders to in order to change the tempo and match the tracks, to my surprise it worked quite well, it needed a little nudge of the jog ring every 10-12 seconds or so, but if i had the 0.02 pitch increments i think that would have been reduced.
anyways, i was experimenting with it to test its accuracy myself and just wanted to ask, did anyone else who has tried this software experience the same results or same accuracy?
how accurate is it really?
It's pretty accurate.
I've occasionally used it to edit track BPM's and it's seemed sufficiently accurate to me.
Trust that BPM Analyzer.
I have get the BPM of over 1000 Tunes, and only 2 of them got wrong.
Accuracy = 99.9%
Good Luck
=)
Is this the same BPM analyser that's used withing Mixmeister Studio?

Seems pretty accurate to me.

Originally posted by Pinokio I guess it's the same if not, he can get the fully-functional trial version, which will insert a demo message into completed mixes every few minutes (buying the full version will remove these messages). That's it, if you are nto using it for mixing or recording, it will do everything you need form the software. http://www.mixmeister.com/download_mmfus7.html

Originally posted by RJT Don't. It's wrong about 60% of the time. Keying by hand is the best route, but if you're going to use software, Rapid Evolution is FAR more accurate (and also checks a database of keys online), and it's free. MixMeister is really, really shit at detecting keys.

thanks for the responses guys !
at first i was thinking "why is it giving me such even numbers?" i would get results like 126.00, 125.00, 125.99 and so on...but then i thought, when a producer is making a track, dont the usually set the BPM at an even number anyways? why on earth would anyone find it necessary to begin making a track at 124.8972 BPM :P ? when i realized that then it all fell into place and i started to trust ts accuracy.

Originally posted by RJT I think RE is the most accurate of them all, especially because it checks a database that is corrected by people. You just drag your tracks into the main window, right click, choose "Detect" and "Key" ![]() Not that hard to re-key!

Originally posted by david.michael Yes. You've gotta realize that even if the producer sets an even BPM, however, that if the file you're detecting from was ripped from vinyl, etc. that it may not be so perfect.

Originally posted by agentdansmith If I remember rightly, there are two windows in RE (top and bottom). Which one is the main window? Also, does RE catalog all our tunes with the Key clearly visible? That's something that I really like about Mixmeister.

Originally posted by RJT Also, not every track is made in Cubase or Ableton or whatever where you're physically setting a BPM - so some tunes might actually be at 125.4321343242 - hence why you beatmatch with your ears and not your eyes. Mine only has one window, and it's clear that's where the tracks go... And yeah, the BPM, the Key, and some other info are all clearly displayed.

Mixmeister is indeed horrible for key detection, but good for bpm's... RE is far more acurate for keys, but every once in awhile its wrong.
