p.p.s. and super huge thanks to sushipunk for hosting it for me!

Looks juicy

EDIT: I also recognize a record-low of one artist in your track list, which probably means it's ftw

It was Popcorn, wasn't it?

edit: 4.5 for me

I don't recognize the tracks, but I never did anyway. I just listened and loved. If this is anywhere near the caliber Retro is, it's a winner.

d/l

i have 450 gigs of bandwidth a month ..... so i can host it no problem if you wish

=)

Posted by Tuis on Jun-01-2007 10:43:

Ok, it is close, but honestly, it doesn't hit my buttons like the 25th minute of Retro...I pushed the limits of eviction with that track...I've prayed my car's system would survive that track...I've wished it louder than it should be allowed by law...I should go to sleep now...

Myra, excellent mix. Your summer mixes always seem to be my favorites for some reason. Maybe, its because I actually get plenty of time to listen to them before leaving a review. The piano closer seemed fitting and well placed, very Robert Miles. Anyway, good job.

bumped because this set fucking rocks. nice work, i can tell that it was obviously very well mixed from a harmonic standpoint. not to sound like a selfish asshole but i used nightwalk in an old mix and took it in a completely direction; it was really refreshing to hear someone else's (far superior) take on the mix. excellent, excellent work.

i really need to start coming back into this local forum likin' the mix!

LUSH

If I could put one word that would describe this mix it would be Lush. Honestly I am completely impressed and was very happy with what I heard. I knew nothing about any of those songs before listening to the mix and had no idea what to expect. What I got was a very well done, classy, proggy, synthy mix. Honestly this sort of brought me back three years seeing deep dish at soundbar play some of the moodiest and sexiest house. I didnt know they still made this type of house and Im glad they do.

Hopefully dont take this the wrong way but the mix has a real feminine feel to it. Which to me is good thing and even if I didnt know it was you spinning I could tell. Its not like a lot of the obnoxious, noisy electro or over layered trance that Ive been forced to endure; the majority of the tracks were very pleasant and classy. The beginning is my favorite part because I have always been a sucker for Detroit synth based feel good tracks. I usually hate vocal tracks but the few that are in the middle are very well done and well placed.

All of the mixing is perfect but that is my only problem with the mix. Everything is almost too perfect and this can be a turnoff. I dont know whether it was made in ableton or tractor or something but it didnt have that real live mix feel. If I am wrong and it was mixed live on CDs then more power to you because the mixing is top notch, everything fits together real well. There are no clashes in sound or key problems. I would have liked to hear more eqing in the mixes to bring in and out certain sounds in the songs during the mixes but thats only a small complaint.

My girl is going to love this mix as well. She was a trance, progressive fan before we started dating and I have slowly moved her to the dark side but she is now a fan of both. This is the perfect medium of compromise for us and I could definitely see us cruising to cedar point on a warm summer morning jamming to this mix. Overall I give it an 8/10. You, Rob and myself need to throw down this summer for sure.

i'm almost positive this was all done on CDJs. i think that was one of the big deals about this mix- it's myra's first "real" mix

Yeah I must have missed that part. If it was then nice one sister. That is some damn good mixing.

Posted by lcid on Jun-07-2007 16:38:

just to clarify, this was done on the computer. i was really adamant about making sure my next released mix was done live, but i couldn't be arsed to do it that way with all the other shit thats been going on lately. i'm not gonna make excuses, i just got lazy and fell behind but still really wanted to put something together with all the tunes i had been collecting lately.

thanks for listening and for the wonderful reviews. i've been meaning to reply to some of your individual posts all week but i've been swamped and haven't had the time.

Mathias - i lol'd at your comment about it being "feminine" because i'm always using the phrase "a bit girly" to describe my mixes to other people. you're one of the only people who has made a comment like that... and i dont take any offense to it because i think it's pretty accurate!
