Re-edits in ableton (where to begin, what actually constitutes a reedit)
Hi
I would like to take my ableton experimentation and dj'ing a little further and start doing re-edits in order to keep with the flow and shorten insanely long tracks.
so I ask,
what exactly is a reedit can you give me examples of the like, I didnt think its like a remix where you have to have all the parts of a song (sasha remix contest etc).
Anything else I should know?
I have reason, peak and ableton live 6 as my tools so-far.
Thanks
-chris
There is no definition of a "re-edit".
Usually it's a track you've changed around a bit but not enough to call it a remix.
If you edit something don't you move / remove parts not add?
You coud do a PVD and get tunes made by up and coming producers and cut all the build ups / breakdowns into a tune with a lng buildup and one breakdown?
Can someone post a sample of a tune and then a reedit so I can hear how the structure changes (if any).
then I can "use these sounds" to switcharoo tracks I already own into something new.
Obligatory "harder kick" post.

lol @ Thrax-Tyas edit.
Seriously though, I find my favorite sets are always the ones that edit their own stuff to perfect the sound.

Here is an example of a re-edit:

The reason for re-editing this track was that I heard it on some compilation CD and it sounded awesome. The problem was that the track was only about two-and-a-half minutes long. So, I sliced it, diced it, mixed it up, added my own personal touch, and here's what I got.
If you have any specific questions on making a re-edit, feel free to PM me.
Err...that link pasted strangely. Here's the URL:

Thanks, I got all the info I need now.
I probably did answer my own question in the OP, but thanks for the clarifications.
Cheers!
