Review: Eddie Halliwell @ The Guvernment
Wow. the green lazzzerzz were siiiikkkkkkkk!! I love the renovations, and for the first time at guv, I only experienced *gasp* friendly staff!
Seating in the back of the main room is a really good idea. I was happy.
As for Eddie: I came in at around two, and immediately liked the track selection. But I quickly noticed that he can't mix properly?
He messed up quite a few times (I can't remember hearing ONE good transition between tracks), but redeemed himself at the end of his set. Hahaha, he even jumped off the DJ booth into the crowd (I got that on video).
Overall, I will give the night a 6/10.
P.S. The smoke machines are wikkid.
P.P.S. I honestly do not understand how some of you girls can dance in high heels.
Pics and videos will be posted soon.
Just got home, Eddie was amazing!!!, had fantastic time
I SO wish that I had attended this event. Seeing many youtubes of eddie, he has SUCH energy behind the decks. I'm suprised to hear about the mixing...wonder if that was a technical issue? (maybe monitors weren't working right?) His beat matching in some of the youtubes i've watched is amazing. Yeah, i saw him jumping off the stage once into the crowd in a vid @ God's Kitchen too. Very cool. Can't wait to see pix of the hydraulic DJ booth!
what a fucking night.
Post your videos people!
how was this new hydrolic stage?? really excited to see pics of it... and how were the rest of the renovations that were not seen last week?
Oh man, This night was awesome. The grand reopening of the main room was great. The new lasers are SICK. The hydraulic stage is super cool, its just cool to see the DJ booth rise in the middle of the night. Eddie was great, and he was nice about everything, shook hands, signed things, and made himself available for photo ops. Eddie was spinning some heavy beats, and had some insane drops, but what really made my night was when he started scratching, oh man, that was some good scratching, i was watching him do it from the stage behind him and let me tell you that from what i saw he has some quick hand movements, scratching is not that easy.
I had a good time, lots of lightshows were given and alot of dancing was done, it was a good night.

POST YOUR VIDEOS!
lol
that was fuckin awesome
Nathan and Carlo to the rescue. Money.
this isn't that good. Just had to get this song on video though
Awww
Vincent De Moor - Fly Away (Cosmic Gate Remix)
that song alone was worth the 20 to get in
soooo many aweasome trance tunes
also
Sean Tyas - Lift (Askew Rework)
mixing was meh, but he definately made up for it with his energy and great track selection. Some songs sounded bad on the sound system because you could barely hear the high frequency sounds over the loud bass and treble like for that new remix of Bedrock - Heaven Scent... still great to hear that in a club that song has been a fav of mine for a while, the digweed remix that is.
7/10
I've heard better from him.
Guv renovations - nice, but I really wish they lost the speakers on the floor near the front.
The new Acid Lounge is cool!!! It's smaller now. (What did they do with the leftover space?)

Wow! what an evening!
Eddie was on fire. It's great to watch someone like him do his thing. He is probably the highest energy DJ (loved the crowd surfing!) that I have ever seen. My first time seeing Eddie. Yes I agree there were some choppy mixes, but to some degree I expected a few hiccups with the scratching, etc. I love how it seems almost like Eddie is in a trance when he is on the decks, eyes closed, manic hand movements, bursts of yelling at the crowd - Awesome. Eddie was up in the drink after his set. My girlfriend went to talk to him, she said he was a real stand up guy.
The new lasers are great, and THANK GOD for the nitrogen system. It is so nice to have that cool blast on you. It would also be nice, if they ran it a little more frequently to keep the club cooler - maybe all those sketchy dudes would keep their shirts on then? The old deluxe lounge looks great with the black and white, and the added balcony off the drink is a nice touch also.
It was nice to meet some of the TOTA last night. Thanks for coming to say hi. Looking forward to moving back to Toronto in the fall, should make the guv more accessible for me.

Oh man what a shot, this guy can put on quite a show, in the beginning he seemed all mellow and just smiling then towards the end of his set he just went crazy, I was watching him from the side the whole time, and went down the stage during the crowd surf, he kicked me in the head lol. But yeah amazing guy to party with. But he's quite a sketchbag lol.
He did mess up a few times but what he does on the tables is hard.

Eddie and His manager
Eddie touching the bouncer's head

Oh man!
x10
Maybe I am being picky, but I really wasn't impressed with the sound in the middle and back of the main room. The sound from Acid Lounge was leaking in and it was ruining Eddie's set for me.
