headphones

Was thinking of either
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_i=B000065BPB
or
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD...80763967&sr=1-1

comments suggestions?

Is this for DJing or for home listening?

I have the V6's and can speak very highly of them (actually had a set for 7 years now). They are true studio monitor type headphones.

Sonys

(p.s. - get the Sony's)

the sennheisers are the only thing i use in my studio.

comfortable to wear for hours, good quality sound, and durable.

Sonys

*cough*
AKG K 240s / K271s

Posted by Sunsnail on Jun-03-2007 18:15:

More people say sony, but enferno says sennheiser, and he owns a music studio.... choices choices.

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Jun-03-2007 18:20:

my sennheisers fell apart.. other then that they were good. But i'd get the sony's

Posted by Mmanu on Jun-03-2007 18:40:

had sennheiser too, the headband plastic started to develop crack each side, and it only gets worse with time, and they will fall apart some day.. the sound's good, but overall fragile--->unreliable in the long term

Posted by _Nut_ on Jun-03-2007 18:41:

If you ever watch videos of radio stations and music studios... there will be an overwhelming majority of Sony Headphones.

A nice quick read regarding headphones:

EDIT:

And another thread comparing your two choices specifically:

Comparison

I have sennheisers. I don't think they are very comfortable to wear. They seem to clamp tightly over my ears. But I guess it's hard to generalize.

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Jun-03-2007 18:50:

Sennheiser HD-280 Dynamic Collapsible Headphones

they just looked/seemed more sophisticated but i'm not a headphones specialist... i forgot to look more in the link but maybe you could check out the reviews on amazon and epinions.com

Posted by Fast Turtle on Jun-03-2007 19:10:

neither, the grado sr-60s or 80s are both better than either of those and i've owned hd280s and v6s

http://www.amazon.com/Grado-60-SR60/dp/B0006DPMU4

i used to date a guy who did mixing/mastering and he swore by them

Posted by Sunsnail on Jun-03-2007 19:30:

ok, anyone want to recommend the grados then?

Posted by stren on Jun-03-2007 20:14:

enferno knows, I would always choose Sennheiser over Sony with similar pricing

Posted by Sunsnail on Jun-04-2007 01:30:

bump

Posted by kadomony on Jun-04-2007 01:35:

sennheiser hd 595 ftw

Posted by Sunsnail on Jun-04-2007 01:35:

way outa my budget. actually all these headphones should be out of my budget, but I'm not responsible.

Posted by nchs09 on Jun-04-2007 01:43:

i really dont like the sony ones, poeple say they sound good for mixing but not for me.... they never hold tight enough around my head...

get the sennheisers!

i have 12 of them, which i bought 3 years ago. not a single one has fouled up, and are used almost every day, and definitely not taken care of as they are tossed around and semi-abused by the random bands that go through here. the sound quality is excellent, very are superbly comfortable due to their floating headphones, and are very worth the $100
