HappyHappy Korg M3 video demo - WOW! Wicked!

Ok, I have to admit - I gave korg quite a bit of (IMHO, deserved) bashing. They haven't released anything "exciting" in a long time. The last "exciting" product for me was Triton Studio, and some time later OASYS (which is not affordable by any means).

Tho, I must say that creating music with Tritons sometimes seems toooooo easy, it almost makes you feel like you're "cheating"... anyway, moving on.

I got a chance to play with M3 at the store last weekend and this is the only synth/kbd from big players like Roland, Korg, Yamaha that I've seen/touched in recent history (we're talking last 3 or so years) that didn't strike me as "overpriced, bland, outdated before it hits the store shelf" toy. And keyfeel is fantastic, very similar to my Virus Ti kbd - which I love.

I did a bit more investigation and I think this will be the next synth I'll be purchasing for my studio. Without hyping up too much more, check out this cool 9min demo video:

what you think?

K.

...Now how much of that can be done in software which costs 11ty times less?

most if not all of it, just not as easily.

I realy like the look of that KB, just like the karma, but with sampling as well. Anyone know how much?

Around $2500 retail. I think I can get one for about $2000.

Featuring karma eh?...

Like I need any more of that

Fark, $5000 over here in oz, i thinks i would be importin this one meself if i got it, which i wont, coz its too bloody expensive.
However this should drive down the price on second hand Karma's, so it's not all bad.

i don't see what you impressed so much in this video. it's just yet another rompler with mediocore samples.. imho the radias is far more interesting. (and even more for it's price)

triton sucks, and this demo sounds rediculously crap imo lol.

Posted by ralpheeee on Jun-07-2007 07:53:

Bahhhhh

i reckon if you played iwith one for an hour, you'd change your tune.

Posted by mysticalninja on Jun-07-2007 08:53:

prolly

Hm,
It looks nice for anything but dance music. (the dance tune in the demo redefines the word cheese, this might be even worse than gigi d'agostino)

Yeah but how many synth demos have you seen that werent cheese?

I have no doubt this thing is capable, but for $2,000 you could spend that money much better elsewhere.
