Best online place to get DJ gear?

Hey all,
I've recently found that online outlets are cheaper than "regular" music stores in terms of DJ gear where I am (Chicago) and am probably gonna take the plunge soon. So before I do I just would like to hear everyone whose bought eq from an online store how it went.

Thanks,
Dave

www.123dj.com is the cheapest I can find but www.hollywooddj.com will price match or beat 123 by $25.

stay away from 123dj or hollywood gear. There have been nothing but horror stories. Your best bet is to get their price listings and have another retailer pricematch/beat it.

A fairly cheap place is at http://www.audiolines.com. You also might want to try http://www.competitionsound.com. Lastly also try out www.datrecords.com. Both give you cheap shipping thru UPS and offer you good deals.

I recommend audiolines...

They have good prices, and service.
If you r planning to buy a lot of things, they can ship for free.

p.s: don't even think 'bout getting anything from 123dj !

uh... they dont sell their own Audioline brand slipmats. And even if they did have cheap slipmats... i'd buy it just cuz it's a freaking slipmat. Does it matter (aside from the appearance) what slipmat you really get?

Personally..after doing MUCH shopping online....ive come to the conclusion that if you are going to buy equipment..its pointless to buy online. GET DOWN TO YOUR NEAREST Guitar Center. I went over there expecting clueless sales people are rediculous prices..but i was wrong. Mk3's were going for $439...and the sales guy i was tlking to said he could do slightly better than that. Everything else like the Stanton Rm3s mixer and the Vestax 275 were the same price as the "cheapest" online retailers such as Hollywooddj.com and 123dj.com SO...doesnt it make sense to buy from teh store and skip out on shipping charges?? just my $0.02 I have my eyes on the Stanton Platinum pak (2 Str-80's, sk6 mixer, everything else i'll need) Goes for $799..but the sales rep said he'd knock it down to $699. ANyone have these turntables? Are they suitable for a beginner bedroom dj?

it would make sense if tax here wasnt so high. Tax rapes the butt WAY over shipping does.

it's a good starting set. But keep in mind u could get 2 STR880s with carts for about 200-215$ a piece which u can spend ~ 300 on a mixer of your choice.

is 123dj.com really that bad?

i have heard that www.pssl.com is a good place to shop, although i hate looking for stuff in their store.

as for guitar shops, yeah, they might be a good place too..

And to the person buying the STR8-80s, i would reccomend you save up a bit more money and get the STR8-100s, they are much better, much more torque.. actually, if you can, save up and get tech12s, but that is tough.. i know i haven't done it yet.

go to www.djsource.co.uk and do a search on 123 dj. Horrible service. Long delivery times.

PSSL is pretty good place to shop too... it's just that it's in California and they'd rape me with their shipping and tax. But if you're outta state, get them to pricematch you. ON their site it says they'll beat the price by 15% or something.

good net sites

I've usually started out with www.gearprice.com. It's a search engine that covers 123dj, hollywooddj and lot of others so I don't have to, then I check out www.pssl.com and www.djgear.com just to make sure I'm getting the lowest price. Just remember, shipping is negociable too! Check out the different shops to make sure you aren't getting ripped off on shipping. Also www.samash.com has some good deals.
