To help all those new to trance

Ok, I Understand many people are new to trance now, after all, we were all new sometime and a lot of us got some good help, so in order to save 10000 threads a week asking the same sorta question, I thought we could help everyone & possibly add it to the useful threads/link it to people who do ask

the question - if you were asked to help someone totally new to trance, who would you recommend. this is not your top 10 artists of the moment, but hopefully will give some good names to help those who seriously want to get in properly, so here goes..

1. Art of Trance
2. Man With No Name
3. Red Jerry
4. Ferry Corsten
5. Andy Cocup - big c, beat foundation (possibly epic-house tho)
6. Lange
7. Dark Moon
8. Astral Projection
9. Benno De Goeij
10. DJ Taucher

hopefully we can get a reasonable amount of suggestions to help people discover both new & old trance

Newbies won't see this thread, they'll just create a new one every time asking the same old questions, so I'm afraid that your noble efforts may be in vain.

I'll give a list anyways;

- Oliver Lieb (L.S.G., Solieb, Spicelab)
- Emmanuel Top
- Simon Berry (Art of Trance, Union Jack, Conscious, Poltergeist)
- Man with no name
- Astral Projection / SFX
- Juno Reactor
- Odyssee of Noises
- Dance 2 Trance
- X-Cabs
- Resistance D

Eye but in general its better not to have a "newbies post here first" sticky... its just far more personal to have their own thread (even though I'm sure it gets boring for the vets after a while).

i'll help the new people who listen to trance

DONT LISTEN TO TRANCE
unless it was pre 2000
and a few exceptions but not many

It's not intended to be like a "read here first" thread but if someone posts asking for help, it's easy to link them here & allow them to read

Nice list Ian.

However, you might want to add Rank 1 to .9 as well.
I think it'd be a good idea if all primary / popular aliases were listed herein as well.
This would make it easier for the newbies.

Ah well, here's mine:

1) Tilt
2) Cosmic Gate
3) Mauro Picotto / CRW
4) Blank & Jones / Piet Blank / Jaspa Jones
5) BT / Brian Transeau

9) Katana / Randy Katana
10) Tony De Vit

all you need to know is that trance is dead.

Posted by Az on Jun-07-2007 17:33:

I'd honestly tell them not to fucking bother, and just get The Field album instead and play the guess the sample game.
that being said, the more newbies, better chance of flogging a shitload of vinyl I'll never play again
