Sad Bloody HELL!!! I just had to cancel my flight to Canada!

I just found out that I need a passport in order to travel to Canada. I thought that law wasn't until Jan 2008. I thought I'd be OK with a birth certificate and US drivers lisence. I'm so pissed off and sad.

I agree with that. Didn't go last time when he played there either only cuz I remember how rammed it was with Cox, so I opted to sit it out. Not going this year either, I will be in NYC for Preach

They have relaxed the rules until September..

You can travel with your driver's license and birth certificate provided you can show proof that you have applied for your passport.

That is provided you are American and have applied for your American passport.

Apparently, you can print off proof of application..

I don't know where you're at but you can drive and I believe that is waived until later. Only flying requires a passport. Sucks but you have to do your due diligence.

Ya I saw that on CNN a few hours ago.

Now you have to uncancel your cancelation!

Posted by Sasha on Jun-10-2007 01:54:

lmao.

have to deal with you people every day at work. whoa.

Posted by Miss Julia on Jun-10-2007 03:25:

You know, my friend JUST told me the same thing, and sent me a link to the article about it. It said that if I show proof of appliation for a passport, I can still fly. Fuckkkkkkkk, I wish I knew that before I cancelled my flight!

I was going to go to the post office to apply for one on Monday, and fly on Tuesday as planned, but the company I used to book my flight with said I can't un-cancel it.

I'm just going to play it safe and go apply for one on Monday, get info regarding showing "proof of application", then book a cheap last minute flight once I find out what the deal is.

I'm extremely upset at the moment. I was looking so forward to getting the F*CK out of this shit hole city.

Sasha, where do you work?

Posted by DigiNut on Jun-10-2007 04:45:

Probably should have prepared for your trip a few weeks in advance, eh?

I mean, it's a perfectly understandable error, the U.S. Customs and airline companies and newspapers have only been screaming at everybody for the past 2 years that they need to get passports ASAP. Hardly enough time to really get oneself organized.

Ontario Travel lol

there are so many ignorant Americans who honestly believe that Canada is just another state of their own country, where they can go without any documents, bring their guns and dont worry about collecting their dogs poo

Posted by LKD on Jun-10-2007 17:17:

Posted by dance2dabeat on Jun-10-2007 18:05:

I was actually thinking the same thing, lol.

Anyway, I'm going to the post office first thing tomorrow morning to apply for a passport.

Re-book your flight in the meantime
That sucks you had to go through all this, cancelling travel plans can cause massive heartache. Don't sweat it though, you'll be here in no time

That's cute. I didn't know you cared. Rest assured that I'm just fine.

Let's be fair here, most Canadians waited until the last minute (or long past the last minute) to get their passports for U.S. travel. The U.S. stated the parameters in no uncertain terms over two years ago and people are still scrambling to get passports. The Canadian government had to beg them to accept driver's licenses for just a little bit longer because Passport Canada couldn't keep up with the demand of millions of applications at once.

Not to pass the buck or anything, some Americans really are dismissive toward Canadian rules and customs. I don't see it as that big a deal though - they'll learn their lesson the hard way if necessary.

Canada just doesnt want to deal with all the TB infected people not listening to their doctors and staying put!
