Question Online cheating

What do U think about it? We all know about them...wallhack, maphack, aimbot etc etc... Is it ok to cheat sometimes? Or is it always wrong?

I heard that all elite players in Red Alert 2 uses maphack and that its like a standard if you wanna play. Still, the cheat is not officiall and you are not allowed to use it. Westwood has no security regarding cheats i think.

Personally i hate cheats. In multiplayer that is. I have never cheated online and that is true! I think its boring that some ppl have to come and ruin it for the rest of us who wants to play serious...

What do U think?

Cheats are the lamest possible things in a multiplayer community.
If you're not skilled enuff to beat a game then ... play another one!
Ruinin other ppl gaming experience is vile, stupid and retarded.

i hate cheats who play on a public server. What is the point ? they annoy other gamers and get called all sorts of shit. The only time ppl should cheat is in there own server with mates.

damn i hate cheating in general! i dont understand why some people buy a game, turn it on, and put the cheats in right away. games are supposed to be a challenge, and involving - not just everything all at once. some people say its fun that way too - but i doubt it. late/

I would be very pleased if you would say that you never used Maphack when youre clan was ranked #1 in the RA2 ranking...

Plz don't flame me, but I have cheated at CS on public servers, not very often though.

When I downloaded OGC, I justified it to myself by saying "only against bots offline" .. then I just wanted to try it out in a real game, just to see what it was like of course

I started using it more and more, but eventually I realised the path I was on and stopped using it. Never once did I get caught (yes even on punkbuster servers).

I don't condone cheating at all, and I'm not defending those that do cheat. Even when I was cheating, I wouldn't use the aimbot all that often; I don't see the point in having the computer aim for you. What was useful was an OGC feature called "ESP," sortof like an improved wallhack. Instead of just showing you the enemies through the wall, this would instead show floating letters instead of the enemy, the letters would say the player's name, their distance from your position, and the weapon they had out. This was FAR more useful than aimbot or a simple wallhack.

But if you run your own CS server, I do suggest using a wallhack and spectating the players. When you have the ability to see through walls, it's amazing how much more obvious the other cheaters are. You can see them aim through walls and everything!

Did u not think about the other people on the server who were not cheating?

Cheats fuck people around and make the game less enjoyable. Especially when you're just on it for fun anyhow!!

I have playtested cheats for the leagues that I admin, and they're quite well engineered, but I would never want to use them against anybody because it gives me a very unfair advantage.

If you've got the skill - use it.
If you haven't - EARN it.

People who cheat need to be slapped around a bit

that's what pisses me off the most. when you never really know for sure if you're getting bullshitted. a lot of the times it's obvious, but there are some people who are really good at hiding it. CS can be very frustrating sometimes when you die suspiciously over and over and there's no way to prove anything.

i've never cheated at any game in my life, I don't see the point to it.

we had some skills, that was about it. We got hacked bunch of times, but usually it was the disconnect hack (wash games)...
that was so much fun

disconnect hack? Tell me more about it..... do u know if alot of elite players use Maphack? i really want that confirmed

When me and my friend discovers that somone is using maphack against us he pulls the modem cable and puts it in after 1 minute. this will make the game stop and we do it until they quit so we win...HAHA punish the cheaters!

hey Webmeister thx for sharing that
I really dont think cheating is ok online... But its nice that you understood that

Posted by webmeister on Apr-17-2002 13:56:

No probs

Like I say, I didn't cheat that often, and I wasn't the "pistol headshot across the map" cheater .. I'd just use the esp-hack to gain additional info every now and then hehehehe

I used to try and justify it to myself, because I was often the only HPB vs lots of cablers, who have a 200ms advantage over you. The esp helps even the playing field.

And besides, I didn't win any money or anything, never warred with cheats on, people were still enjoying themselves. Everybody wins

/me coughs "cheat" and then realises how immature he is

Posted by Mark on Apr-20-2002 05:54:

heh i used a maphack before on broodwars. although it is wrong and it gives me an unfair advantage, it is very interesting to watch the game and notice that your opponent are cheating as well based on their erratic actions. i never used any cheats to gain any type of online gaming status or whatever. i don't join clans or have a cool chatroom name anywhere.

its all for fun. games are games. i don't play serious. it still does not justify anything but hey, i mean its only a video game. its ok to fool around sometimes.

Posted by OtakuCat on Apr-30-2002 04:25:

i would definitely have to say that i do not condone it in a public room(i will kill you)but its all cool with friends in specified areas
games are games to a certain point, after that point i feel cheating is as i is in other events, people dont take kindly when athletes take drugs to give themselves an unfair advantage so why should i take kindly to some one looking through my gear or shooting me from across the map

Posted by webmeister on May-02-2002 12:21:

Apparently all the top players in diablo II use cheats too .. the maphack is said to be essential. There are also ways to dupe, plus there's that annoying enchant hack that resets you to Clvl -1

Note that i've NEVER used these cheats .. i don't play D2 anymore...

Posted by fastmp3 on May-08-2002 15:05:

i was one of the first people who used the CS Speed cheat

OMG it was so funny u could kill all the others in less than 30 seconds

Posted by lMIlk on May-10-2002 05:20:

haha i used to be really good at cheating when i played cs, ( no i didn't practice it ) i was offered to myg0t and Japs clan. But i played in pub servers and it was just really stupid owning that bad so i started playing in cheaters only servers. 1.4 came out i didn't even bother downloading it.

Posted by webmeister on May-12-2002 12:47:

wtf there are cheaters-only servers?

whats the point in that?
you just turn on 360 degree field of view, auto-shoot, aimthru, no recoil etc and all u have to do is walk around...

and everyone else is doing the same thing?

<--- doesnt get it

Posted by KilldaDJ on May-12-2002 14:12:

Talking

quake with a aimbot is good, just be good @ running away when someone has a rckt lncher...

its not exactly that easy

Posted by Damo on May-13-2002 06:00:

yeah, i imagine you'd have to use cover to full advantage...

but i don't see how that'd be fun.... i've seen JAPS members go to public serves, and right off the bat it's blatantly obvious... what's the point?? how do you become a "good" cheater... seems kind of boring to me...
