I realize you probably don't post here all that much - so I'll just say this: Either use the search and look for "Behringer" in the titles of threads in the DJ Booth forum over the last couple of years, read those, and then decide.

Or, if you don't feel like taking the time to do that - just don't buy it and save yourself the headache. Save an extra hundred or two and get yourself a decent entry level mixer instead of settling for this piece of shit.

Go for a Vestax - VMC 004!

It's funny. for some reason this morning I was searching for Behringer posts, just wanted a laugh I suppose, anyway, there was a reply from you on one and you said that your friend had one and it was really good!!

Oh how times and opinions change over the years!

The Behringer is crap. I started mixing with the DJX-700 and it was a great starter mixer. My biggest complaints are:

-The faders are not adjusted to account for a logarithmic scale. i.e., when you fade in from 0-7, the output does not increase much. All the volume is in the 7-10 range.
-The effects are crap.

So, i guess it depends on what you want to use it for. For bedroom DJing, i think it's fine. For professional applications, definitely not.

Everyone ( well apparently I'm wrong now) knows that behringer mixers are shite. All of them.

Go for:
Funktion 1 ( for those who can afford it)
Allen & Heath
Urei
Ecler
Pioneer
Vestax

I think you should definately buy a Behringer DJX700. It will suit a person like you perfectly. Don't listen to anyone on this forum... Behringer stuff is better than Rane etc. and will never break.

Posted by Mmanu on Jun-10-2007 13:16:

^^ don't listen to him either

Can you point me to that post? I can't seem to find any that say that... this is the first comment I can see that I ever made about Behringer equipment, it's from 2005:

Another DJ in town here uses the VMX300 and is essentially relegated to fader mixing because the EQ's are so non-responsive...

Buying Behringer equipment is like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun... it's not going to end well...

Edit: I just read every post I've ever made about Behringer mixers, there isn't one nice thing on TA that I've ever said about them.

i think vmx300 is better than djx700?

Posted by nutsan on Jun-14-2007 21:29:

if you say so? all of behringers dj are majorly sub par. the only way the vmx300 could be seen as better, is because your wasting less money on something you'll replace a few months down the line.

Posted by xenoaxe on Jun-14-2007 22:13:

my exp using it

I own the thing, and for practicing dummy sets its OK at best. However i regularly use a djm-600 that my buddy owns and it doesn't even compare in terms of quality, and the 600 isnt even great at that... Also you pointed out the effects, trust me - you do NOT want to even TRY and use those. It would be better to get a better 2 channel mixer. If i could go back i would (and I will soon).

I also didn't really understand why the "fuckin' idiot" was warranted, but either way - I really hope this fellow gets himself one hell of a nice Behringer DJX 700 and loves every minute he spends on the thing.
