you're insane
beats were so solid i lost my drunk twice from dancing so much. favorite part was the end of the night when we all sectioned out a large part of the back dancefloor, steps, and seats to ourselves. wish i had pictures of last night! happy birthday cam.

I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped I'd be.

When he was playing well, it was awesome, but Liebing had quite a few (mild) builds into what seemed a transition into yet another mild build. Started to drag on a bit by 3:30.

He had great energy and seemed to be enjoying his set more than the crowd was reacting at times.

And the heat was an issue. If you could get under a fan you were good, but otherwise it was uncomfortable.

6/10.

(edit) I now upgrade this event to a 7/10.
Like I said, when he was awesome, he was AWESOME. Further down the thread an appreciation for a good techno crowd is noted. I agree. There were a few times the WHOLE club seemed completely engulfed in the music for a few moments. THAT is something special. Its just too bad he couldn't sustain that for a little bit cause the crowd was so wanting it.

Crap, im pissed off that i missed this thing...i only got off work at like 2am and everyone called it a night by then and i didnt wanna go out by myself, maybe next time

Posted by spitty on Jun-10-2007 23:20:

AN ABSOLUTELY "PERFECT" FUCKING NIGHT.

I have never been in that much heaven before not drunk or not high at a night out.

EVER.

it was fucking perfect in a million ways... i honestly wish i could live in those 3 hours when Liebing spun all over again.

Perfect wifebeater temperature too in there. Techno at Footwork is EVEN BETTER than minimal in the Zone. I shit u not.

This party with Liebing ABSOLUTELY goes down as one of my top 5 parties EVER.

Prolly the 4th best set I've ever heard live.

God, I cant say enough!

Gotta run now, but ill post more tomorrow when i get home!!!

Jem out.

whoa.

Chris Liebing had an interesting set i agree there was a lot of buildup and i guess i was expecting hard techno mostly, but he did fucking get really banging hard by around 3ish. First two hours was ok but some of the buildups were too much and felt they werent going much anywhere but at 3ish he started getting really hard and i enjoyed that part of the set soo much, i was screaming and wailing my arms around and i was completely sober the whole night. Saw Jem and love how this guy loves his techno and i remember him saying, this guy might top off D.A.V.E. The Drummer's set. I personally liked DAVE the drummers sets a little more because it was more in your face hard techno and Liebing liked to tease his crowd and progressively add heavier bass as minutes went by. Definately would go see Liebing again, perferably in his home country i wanna see that guy blow some fucking speakers one day lol.

Prolly bc i wear only wifebeaters, but i thought the temperature was a PERFECT techno temperature! I was loving that heat so much, no way id have moved from the front of the room.

From the first song Liebing dropped to the last, I NEVER moved from the front of crowd. There was no fucking way.

God bless extreme heat and techno. Makes my world fucking perfect when combined and dancing!

Wifebeaters baby, wifebeaters. The heat wont bother u if ur wearing one. Fuck tshirts!

Thanks dude!! Totally appreciate those comments. I love my techno more than most things in life. God, all other music is lacklustre compared to it now. and NOTHING sets me off on a dance floor like techno. It cant be touched.

Great to meet you (again) lol

my party memory SUCKS

P.S. I got Liebing to sign my shirt -- first time EVER ive dont this. So glad i decided to step up and do it

AND... to top it off...

lol I STOLE FUCKING BIG "XANURADIO" SIGN!! LOL! So awesome... god, thats a story on its own.

I'd like to thank Jenn and Cribbers for inspiring me to do it after I casually mentioned it to them

More to come when I properly review this night. AND I WILL... this is the first party in months and months and months i actually wanna take the time and effort to fucking review. its absolutely 100% worth a frigging PROPER review!

I'm still in shock and awe. Fuck.
I love my life with techno

Jem

I wake up today, and GOD are my legs/calves ever sore!

I love it. Totally a tell-tale sign that it was an insane party bc you danced so f'n hard that your calves are really aching!

Walking up and down stairs is fun, lol

Posted by TheNeonAlien on Jun-11-2007 15:27:

Liebing was ripping up shit early on, then he turned it down a notch.

the crowd seemed pretty drained it kinda resembled a death march after.

regardless, chris was great!!!! little too hot in there. i gotta few pics but they are only of liebing

heard len faki - my black sheep

I actually dropped that tune about 20 minutes before Liebing came on...

Fantastic night!! Chris did it proper and was a class act the entire night.

Massive thanks to the Platform crew and Footwork... the perfect venue for this party!

Posted by yankeeBaby on Jun-11-2007 17:08:

Jamie liked this party so much that he posted a reivew about it in the NYC Ferry corsen review thread from last night! lol He wants the world to know of his love for leibing!

lol glad you guys had a great time> was it packed? I read the liebing NYC review and people were so dissappointed because about 20 people showed up I hope that doesnt discourage him from paying here in the future, I know a lot of ta's had alternative plans and couldnt make it, and we were all truly dissapointed.

Posted by Cribby on Jun-11-2007 18:15:

Hmm I don't feel like writing a proper review.. so I'll just make it short.

Night was good, crowd was awesome (i love techno crowds), place was hot.

Chris Liebing had some strong points, and his first hour or so was kick ass for me. Transitions were pretty stellar, but he lost me during his last hour when his set got too consistent. It was a little bit too repetitive and lacked some substance. I actually enjoyed the less harder stuff that he dropped earlier on. So glad he played these though!!!

Audion - Noiser
Phil Kieran - Skyhook 2
Boris Brejcha - Die Maschinen Kontrollieren Uns
Rejected - Cliche

Other than that, I was a bit disappointed.

Jamie Kidd and Lee Osborne's b2b set was more up to par with what I was liking. Great duo! Their closing set really turned my night around. Love these two dudes! I believe

Thomas Schumacher - Red Purple

was dropped near the end, which was awesome.

Ps. I love the staff at FW, especially the bartenders. Funny and down to earth ftw.

I'm still in awe about this set best 4 stright hours of techno i herd in a long time the pace was perfect for the mood i was in not too fast not too slow, the track selection was top notch all night overall one of my favorite parties of the year. Overall 10/10
Great seening the 317 crew out all together.

Posted by magikb on Jun-12-2007 01:50:

- opening B2B set by Jamie and Lee was great.
- Liebing was ok; first 2 hours of his set were what did it for me.
- was a little too hot for me, spent most of my time in the back of the club.
- my own party vibe was lacking most of the night.
- surrounded by good company the whole night.
- jetted at 4:50am and went to sleep; I was exhausted.

Overall, not a bad night. I still think my lack of wanting to go out played a part in the way my night went. If it weren't for the company/chats with some, I probably would have left much sooner than I did.

So for those that went to this and saw Beyer last Fall, how do they compare?
Cause if Beyer wasn't much better, then I'll draw closure to missing that party.

Beyer > Liebing

Barely comparible.

Beyer's set was one of last year's best, while I'd say Liebing's was decently good at best.
