Daaaaamn

this chick who works in my office asked me this morning if i would marry a french guy so he could have citizenship, and upon the divorce, he would pay 20k.

he's gay and rich (obviously) and just wants citizenship.

oh and i don't mean she asked ME to do it, she was asking if i would. i suppose the offer has been extended to her.

i told her, "fuck yea...he's gay and you don't have to sleep with him. 20k is a nice little chunk of cash to have"

would u guys do it?

Posted by KiNeTiC ENeRgY on Jun-12-2007 14:34:

absolutely...u gotta do what u gotta do to make that dollar.

Posted by Lilith on Jun-12-2007 14:35:

Maybe if I needed 20k... and I don't need 20k that bad, I don't know. What's fraud like as a prison term in the US these days?

Posted by Marc Summers on Jun-12-2007 14:35:

do it

how can u prove that? I doubt he would bring it up...

Posted by narcism on Jun-12-2007 14:37:

its the only reason i would get married

Posted by Slylee on Jun-12-2007 14:37:

it's not for me. i wish.

lillith, i'm not sure, but it's probably not as harsh of a sentence as a 17 year old boy getting busted with a 15 year old girl giving him oral.

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jun-12-2007 14:38:

20k? that's it? lol

i'd ask for 40K and it's a deal...

Posted by Taranis on Jun-12-2007 14:38:

Hell, 20k, even I'd do it :|

Posted by Lilith on Jun-12-2007 14:38:

I don't know, I wouldn't he wouldn't, Slylee certainly wouldn't, however there is the 3rd party to consider, the secretary who might want in on 20k.

So you're divorced after... what happens?

ppl have done it for a lot more than a measly 20k

you're 20k richer if that really happens bc you only have his word, since a lawyer can't get involved

there's a social stigma in being called used goods after divorce, even with no kids.

yeah, jail

yea i thought about that too. after that, you have to officially admit you've been married and divorced.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-12-2007 14:45:

Fuck no I wouldn't do it.

I have a friend who did this though. She married a Chinese guy and got 20 or 30k.

Meaning, will your little mate at work shut her mouth and do you trust her not to blackmail you with a fraud charge hanging over you?

sweetie, it's not for me. we share office space with several other attorneys and she is one of the secretaries for them. she asked me this morning about it when we were making our coffee. it was like, "what would you do". and i'm asking you all, "what would you do"

it's legal in my state

at least it would be just for citizenship, and I wouldn't have to lose my anal virginity.

I would have a very very good look at the immigration laws prior to doing something like this.....
I cannot speak for the US, however, Canada has a number of laws in place by which any person who sponsors an immigrant or marries one, is responsible for any and all debts that person incurres with the government for a period of 5 years from the date at which the sponsorship started. This is to say; if I were to marry a non-citizen she would then receive landed immigrant status.... then she leaves me and starts to collect welfare... guess who's on the hook to pay back every cent the government gives her (or spends on her in terms of training or healthcare).. that's right, me. Many people have been burned badly by this (especially in the indian community of BC where arranged marriages with Indian nationals is commonplace).

Again, I don't know if the US has similar provisions and protections in their immigration law, however, I would be damn sure to know the law inside and out before even considering such a thing.

BTW, 20K is too low.

i'd probably do it if i was single. it'd be too weird to try to explain something like that to a serious boyfriend... "RJT, honey, do you mind if i marry this French homo for $20k? it's totally innocent and i'd split the profits with you!"
