Lange & Gareth Emery - This is New York

Okay, i want to start off by saying i personally love this track. But that aside, i've talked to a lot of people said this track is complete garbage and cheese, and others who say it's really good and has a great mixture of techno and trance elements.

I want to know what the TA's think.

it's pretty shit, but gareth emery has that effect on nearly everything he touches. Thankfully Lange is producing good tunes on his own again (see the angel falls thread)

it's ok but it's nothing amazing. I always thought it lacked a bit of energy, doesn't seem to sound good when you slide the pitch up

Gareth Emery was responsible for one of my favorite tracks last year: Vinny Troia pres Jeidene Veda - Flow (Gareth Emery Dub).

His collabs with Lange are of varied quality: forgettable, decent, good, i really liked Another You Another Me.
This Is New York falls somewhere between fogettable and decent.

And about the "great mixture of techno and trance": there is no techno here. It's a simple melodic trance track.

I love this track it is awesome, one of my favorites from 2006, Another You, Another Me is great too.. but they really didnt write that one.

I don't mind This Is New York, nor the B side, X equals 69. Bit generic though, nothing too standout about either of them.

Gareth Emery may not be a great producer, but he's a brilliant DJ in my opinion.

Like it, but I think Back on Track and Another You Another Me are both better. Back on Track was one of my favorite songs last year actually... *shrug*

I like it a lot too! Lange is a great producer and I've always liked Gareth Emery's work is usually well up there IMO.

Weirdly I also found out that Gareth Emery posts on a frequent flyer messageboard I use! His profile said he was from Southampton and posted in off topic thread about jobs saying he was an international DJ so I asked...and he was!

IMO...Gareth Emery is one of the more "under-rated" DJs out there....This is New York is a pretty good uplifting tune IMO...wonder y it cudnt make it biggg....considering the fact there was so much shit coming out during that period....
