Use a 48 seater, ffs. Fucking waste of fuel.

Ben, nah, basically it's a plane with just 48 seats not 220, so its luxurious. I'd love to fly to new york on it then just 1 hour of chicken coup class to toronto. As I'm not a good flyer, it'd be great to have the sort of room, plus the chance to actually nap during it.

well no doubt its luxurious. 48 pppl instead of 220 is a HUGE difference. just saying i find it hard to justify twice the cost. then again it is a really long flight so i guess its worth it. come to la!

hahaha that's like double the flight time I'm just dreaming & hoping esp about the echo bit

Posted by MunkyAngel on Jun-14-2007 21:32:

yah ian's coming to america!!!

Posted by _Ocean_Drive_ on Jun-14-2007 22:07:

Meant to be good, though facing competition from Maxijet. And BA are going to be starting something similar.

But they fly from Luton don't they? So if you don't mind wading your way through chavs...

Posted by Ian on Jun-14-2007 22:51:

stansted Although if they wanna do East Midlands I don't mind

LA is a 3hrs flight! short!

Posted by fbgdavidson on Jun-14-2007 23:40:

Not flown them myself but am quite aware of their product. I'd probably fly them if I was in the NY region but since I'm closer to Washington it is much more convenient just to use BA's service from Washington. Flat beds in business class too, not as nice as Eos but more convenienet,

I've flown BA First Class quite a number of times and it is certainly a comfortable way to travel. I've an interest in commercial aviation hence the below report and the ones linked within it...and all the details!

$2800 is NOT expensive on the JFK-London flights, especially for a business/first class product. It is very easy to pay close to $5000 one way in First Class on BA.

Posted by Ian on Jun-14-2007 23:47:

Yeah the price definitely appeals for that level of class.

Have you considered premium economy if room in economy is the problem? Much cheaper than business class and the extra legroom makes quite a difference. I've recommended it to friends who fly economy and complain about the legroom and they've never looked back. Personally I find few things in life less unpleasant than economy on a flight and as a semi-regular traveller I value the benefits of Business or First Class and don't have a problem with paying more money for a more comfortable seat. A decent flat bed comes into it's own on overnight flights. Jet lag, schmet lag...

On a shortish flight like London-Toronto premium economy may do the job at the right price, plus you can fly it on BA direct avoiding one hell of a really crappy connection at JFK. Eos is certainly a good product (I've heard many good things on the frequent flyer messageboards I use)

Fire away with any questions!

Posted by Ian on Jun-15-2007 00:06:

Well, i don't fly well simply due to the amount of people around and the fact I feel claustrophobic. I find premium economy just about ok for european flights (upto 4.5 hours) but to think of having to settle for that for much longer annoys me. I don't settle well in the small space and something like EOS offers the room which means I can actually sleep for a bit, and the quietness which should make it a pretty mint flight. I'm ideally looking for at least 40" legroom and preferably some extra width too just so I can move around a lot.

The other reason is that when we goto canada, i'l lbe flying with my nana who struggles in the spaces herself cos of arthritis & the chance to put her feet up & be in comfort would make a hell of a difference.

Posted by fbgdavidson on Jun-15-2007 00:19:

Makes a lot of sense and in that case a business or First Class product would be much better. Premium Economy is around 38" pitch (the distance between seats) unless you get an exit row of bulkhead. Since you mention your grandmother has arthiritis I think I'd further suggest not going on Eos via JFK. The connection wouldn't be a lot of fun as you'd have to clear immigration and collect baggage and take the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 7.

I think you might do well to fly on BA direct to Toronto. They are holding a fare sale at the moment and you can fly in Club World (their business class product) for 1399 per person which is almost so cheap it's unfair!
http://www.britishairways.com/trave...source=hpbanner

Although it won't offer as much space as Eos you will have plenty of room to stretch out. You'll get access to the Elemis Spa at Heathrow so you can get a massage before the flight (free of course!). BA have started to roll out a new business class product which I've had the chance to try out and it is really comfortable.
http://www.airliners.net/discussion...ead.main/92176/

If Eos flew direct to Toronto I'd recommend you choose them over BA Club World but with the fare sale and the treacherous connection at JFK to bear in mind you'll probably be best flying with BA. Don't forget to sign up for their frequent flyer programme and claim those miles!

cheers We're ok for the changeovers, it's more the fact that the flight itself needs a bit of room. could you recommend any other cheap business type class airlines that will do to toronto or to nyc? I know of silverjet, flyzoom & air transat but none of them offer the total service i want

Posted by Echo of Silence on Jun-16-2007 00:44:

First class all the way, babe.

Transat & FlyZoom are pretty much charters. If you want room don't even consider them.

As far as I know no airlines offer business/first class on London-Toronto except BA and Air Canada. The latter are offering a pretty good business class seat now.
http://www.aircanada.com/en/traveli...bincomfort.html

I'm not familiar enough with Air Canada to know whether they offer it on all flights between London & Toronto so I've started a thread on my frequent flyer board trying to work it out for you. Click below for the experts update
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=704560

If you are willing to connect then that opens up a whole can of possibilities. Connections through Chicago & New York etc etc. Personally I think the BA option is the best, even if you don't mind connections flying direct is better than stopovers, plus the BA fare is a steal. If you get the upper deck on the 747 it is only 2-2 config and feels like flying on a private jet.

OK you've got plenty of time! I thought you were looking to go this summer. And yes, the loos do tend to work. If not you can venture back into economy *shudder"

do you get nicer ones where the seats aren't pissed all over and there's a butler to wipe your ass ?
