Ever been scammed (paypal related)?

Anyone ever been scammed before?

Some how my paypal account was compromised and 2 echecks were sent for over 630 dollars. I filled out their dispute claims and will wait to see if I get my money back or if I am fucked.

Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this, especially with paypal?

Also if you feel like spamming or anything... these are the fucks that did it:

Name:
Duong Nguyen
Email:
[email protected]

Name:
James Melancon
Email:
[email protected]

That is a decent chunk of change if I am fucked....

i had my paypal account haxed before and i had to pay a fee to paypal because my balance went into minus..got the mr brown cards too

The interesting thing is that they issued a check from my bank account, so the money went from my bank to them, and never entered my paypal account.

That's what happens when you reply to those fake paypal phishing emails. You fell for them.

Actually I don't. I've used paypal once in the past year for payments received and that is all. When I goto places with my account, especially with money, I manually type in the address.

Thanks for failing at the facts.

Reason #2102949 why I don't use PayPal. I'm convinced the whole operation is a fucking scam.

All I know is that once this all blows over I will be removing my account information.

Send them some poo. It's a good way to let businesses know you're fucked off with their service and aren't taking it anymore.

Good luck.

www.paypalsucks.com - seriously. I'm sure you're not the first (and not the last). check it out.

My experience with scampal has been nothing short of horrific. I refuse to deal with them unless no other option exists and I am limiting my risks. If your paypal claim does not yeild a result, file a complaint with your state attorney general and consumer protection bureau. you'd be surprised how qukickly sh!t gets done when u get authorities involved.

Sorry for being a complete arse, but what is the alternative?

In light of these stories I'd love to find something other than PayPal, but if you're buying from ebay and discogs often, as I do, what else can you use?

Posted by _Nut_ on Jun-17-2007 15:12:

In reality it isn't so bad.

PayPal has approved and processed your claim of recent unauthorized use of
your account for the following transaction:

-----------------------------------
Details of Disputed Transaction
-----------------------------------

Transaction Date: Jun 13, 2007
Transaction Amount: -$325.00 USD
Your Transaction ID: 77439746RS928193V
Seller's Transaction ID: 6WX39083SF983183W
Case Number: PP-297-140-549
Seller's Name: Duong Nguyen
Seller's Email: [email protected]

Any portion of the payment that was funded with your credit card will be
refunded directly to your credit card.

That is the first of the two. I am sure the second will come shortly. Also, my bank stated that I would need to fill out an affidavit and file a police report (if Paypal didn't get me the money back). They would then put that money back into my account and take on getting the money from PayPal (or whoever) on their own.

Posted by Domesticated on Jun-18-2007 05:47:

haha. This is hilarious. I got this email today, to an email address which doesn't even have a PayPal account associated with it.

Are people actually stupid enough to get pulled in by this shit?

its not used for online shopping in general. its used for sending payments between 2 parties that arent a business (well now people use it for business purposes) to exchange money. its used mostly for ebay purposes but also used for people purchasing via forums and what not.

Posted by Omega_M on Jun-18-2007 15:28:

so can you use paypal to transfer money from one country to another ? is that legal ?

How would it not be legal?

Posted by Omega_M on Jun-18-2007 16:28:

I don't know shit about banking and finance, so I'm just asking. Suppose I want to transfer $$ to another currency in another country. Can I do that using paypal without going through the hassle of involving banks and needing to pay commission and high transfer fees ?
