hiding your internet history on a network

Im on a network with a few people I don't want seeing my internet history. I have a mac, what can I do so that my browsing history can't be seen, or is masked in some way?

really nothing. Whoever controls the router will be able to see. The only real way will to be to create sometype of VPN to an outside computer...which then your latency will go SkyHigh!

See if you can browse their history. If you can't then they can't see yours. So stop worrying. If you can see their history, then check for p0rn. If you see pr0n links, stop worrying. If not, they have found a way to be smarter than you. Hope this helps.

If the network is on a based on a basic linksys type router (home network) you will have better luck if you connect via a wireless connection. The info won't be bounced around the network as much.

It is a linksys router. And the other person is smarter than me with computers.

I'm not really sure.

I thought it was only the IP addresses of the visited sites that are logged on the router, not the actual URL's themselves.

This still doesn't prevent the guy finding the URL based on the IP address, but it would make it more difficult than simply looking at the logs.

your best solution would be something called TOR. you can get it at tor.eff.org.

Hey what about using proxys?

same thing. Tor is a traffic anonymizer. that way you can be FULLY anonymous. IM, HTTP, FTP, etc.
