decisions, decisions....subwoofer or 5.1 system?

What would be better in terms of adding some more sound to a setup? i currently have a basic home shelf stereo system. it gets the job done fine, and i really like them, but a lack of bass response is a tad bit on the dull side of the sound spectrum.

a subwoofer for the obvious reason...wouldnt mind some more "umph" luckily my mixer has a subwoofer out, so no real issues connecting it to my current gear.

either that or this logitech 5.1 system. I currently have the 2.1 of that, good amount of bass, just enough for that full sound. only issue i would imagine is that I would need an adapter to be able to throw it into my mixer. Maybe a fellow TA could tell me whether or not the adaptor would cause sound quality issues or what not.

Not really sure what your asking... but 2.1 quality over 5.1 easily.

I would say just get the subwoofer.

no need for the other speakers.

why not save and get a pair of monitors? your just cheating yourself in the long run.

why would you buy a crappy set of logitech computer speakers for djing?
also i see no point at all getting a 5.1 system for djing as the sound is going to be stereo anyway, so you'd have 3 speakers that have no function (altho i'm sure you could play the stereo sound thru them, but what's the point in that?)
just get a decent pair of stereo speakers and if you really must, then get a sub as well.

Subwoofer, hands down. (Unless you're an uber bad ass and can mix in 5.1 on the fly.)

that isnt half as bad as it would seem...
you just setup three tracks for each channel (deck)
in ableton
You'd do that so that you would setup a track for each of the "decks" you want to play with (2...3---how many you desire)...

then you would duplicate each one so you have it three times...and assign external outs accordingly...(assuming you have a 5.1 setup of speakers and soundcard indeed)...then its not a problem to mix in a 5.1 I bet!
