Scholarships for DJs

Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask...

Has anyone found scholarships for DJs? I am strapped for cash to go to school next month. I am applying for all of the Hispanic and computer-specific scholarships I can get ahold of (because I'm a Hispanic guy going for a Game and Simulation Programming decree), and all of the FastWeb scholarships. I haven't seen one for a DJ though. Does a DJ scholarship exist?

IIRC they had a news story on the djmag website about teaching DJing in UK schools. Maybe they have scholarships there as well?

No, you have to pay them.

DJing is barely recognised as a proffession outside of the Dancemusic industry. The only way you could wrangle something like that is if you took the sound engineering approach and wanted to work in studios.

Cheers

That is awesome cause i might be going to Cornell University!

nice. i go to cornell.

if you go, make sure to check out electronic music collective parties. it's more or less a group i started that now numbers 100+. we throw regular house parties and club nights. except i'll be in rome and nyc for the next year and only back for really really good parties haha

and ithaca college has a group started by another TA - SPAWNmaster.

Moog used to have a factory just outside of ithaca, in trumansburg i believe. Another famous factory in ithaca is the ithaca gun factory, which is now defunct and one of the coolest industrial ruins i've ever been to. It sits on the edge of a cliff overlooking a huge hundred-foot waterfall (ithaca falls) and there are all sorts of secret tunnels, bridges, and crazies who inhabit it. suffice to say, it is the prime venue for all night summer parties

except that it is highly contaminated with lead

FYI: Moog focuses on production, not the DJ aspect of electronic music.

I don't know of any, but try filling out a FAFSA. There is a section at the end of the FAFSA which allows you to put up to 5 schools of your choice. Based on your financial need, your school will decide how much money to give you for tuition. They're called Federal Pell Grants and it's money that you never have to pay back, hence the grant part. If you make to much money you won't get a lot of aid, but that shouldn't be a problem for you.
