Shame / Disagreement Timo Maas = anti-trance hypocrite!

in his opening track, Help Me on the new album "Loud" (a wicked album i must admit)
in the breakdown a muffled voice says

'do you believe in destiny.. we must not make trance.. not now..blahblah(i cant tell this part'

this guy is seriously pissing me off... the stuff he makes is borderline trance.. 'to get down' (progressive?) and ubik (the dance)

and all those remixes of orinoko - island!

why must he be bashing trance..

Posted by Great Outdoors on Apr-14-2002 11:08:

Huh? I must have missed it, no way is it coming from Timo!

Posted by kurai on Apr-14-2002 11:26:

I hate Timo Maas.. so overrated!

Posted by Sand Leaper on Apr-14-2002 11:56:

That can't be Timo! The man used to play at TUNNEL,dammit!

Posted by Lytchix on Apr-14-2002 12:27:

I don't like Timo Maas Productions... I don't see where trance is in his tracks!

Posted by d-jay MyTH on Apr-14-2002 12:42:

Hello!

it's common knowledge that timo, whilst playing some trance, hates the girly, poppy stuff like lange- drifting away etc

Posted by Great Outdoors on Apr-14-2002 13:36:

Drifting Away girly poppy? NooOOoooOOOooOOOoooOO

Posted by vito on Apr-14-2002 14:08:

the example i would use of girls poppy trance is ian van dahl. i hate that shit, it gives trance a bad name. previous example: alice deejay.
lange is not near as bad

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Apr-14-2002 16:43:

have you actually HEARD this tune??, it's actually DAMN good, so less of the piss taking

Smile

He isn't a trance hater. The man makes cool tracks, you ask him what he plays...and he says trance, breaks, house. You people are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Posted by Great Outdoors on Apr-14-2002 17:20:

Timo Mass rocks and he loves trance. It's just lyrics, people!

Posted by noikeee on Apr-14-2002 20:53:

used to like him, traxx like "der schieber", "ubik the dance", "riding on a storm".

"to get down" is ok although it isn't trance at all.. prog house I think

I heard some new track from him in the mtv dancefloor chart and I didn't like it very much. too housy for me, I prefer trance. He's also becoming overplayed I guess.

Posted by d-jay MyTH on Apr-14-2002 21:51:

HappyHappy

WOH WOH WOH ppl calm down i'm not bashing trance! and i don't mind drifting away either. But u have to admit that it is the more girlier, poppier side of trance. (this is what timo hates)
Btw don't cuss the doug laurent mix of sash - just around the hill till u v heard it. it's bloody awesome and if u like rank 1 / cosmic gate/ shokk/ flutlicht etc you should think about getting it.

regards

For a fact....

Timo Maas once commented in a Ministry or Mixmag magazine 2 years back he's dislike the overhype of trance...and he also dissed ATB, his german counterpart, on his cheesy productions and trance is not all about cheddar or Swiss....

As for the starting track, it's no surprise to me....if you have been following his compilations...Timo has included quite a few trancers in them....

All I can say is Timo Maas is a good producer but he's a walking contradiction...

i spot a ever so slight difference in styles between the two artists!

Posted by IronDragon on Apr-14-2002 23:20:

Timo's just another schizophrenic arist. Trying to please those who decry trance as being "too cheesy" and his newfound chart friends who seem to love a lot of the most poppier dance productions (all of which are trance).

Note to Timo,
Stop trying to please everyone.

just to recap, his album i think is really very good

i agree. Timo maas has some cool productions and interesting style. The only trance production i can think of from him is 'de schuber' (sp). Ubik (the dance) is a cool house type of tune. On the other hand, i havent heard too many of his productions.

Thumbs down Welcome to the sad world of hypocrites

There are a lot of hypocrites in this world who are stupid and arrogant. I guess Timo Maas is one of them.

Frankly, I think he SUCKS, and I find his "music" (ahem) extremely boring.

But I guess he's trying to be "cool" by dissing Trance. You know, like Sasha and Digweed. Presumably these aristocrats made it a fashionable thing to do, it's something you do to look "cool."

By the way, Timo Maas, Sasha, and Digweed are not the only hypocrites dissing Trance. Look at your "idol" Paul van Dyk. The man is even embarassed to say the word "trance," for God's sake. If you mention this word to him, he cringes.

Hypocrites and traitors...

Spitting in the dish where you eat is lame ...
he's a moron

Posted by skywarp on Apr-15-2002 05:03:

I would be ashamed too if people would start putting me in the same category as all the fluff synth-overuse big-monster-breakdown pop electronic anthems that passes as trance nowadays.

Posted by speedracer_mec on Apr-15-2002 05:12:

Talking well

im pretty sure he was aware of the lyrics in the tune...no big deal..he is probably referring to the cheese flying around..he made it in 2001...and released the album this year...2001 was a shitty year for trance and he was emphasizing that i assume....BTW timo maas is a excellent producer who produces unique tunes...and not crap like atb, pulsedriver, ian van dahl, fragma.....which is all dirty cheese

Posted by wookieslut on Apr-15-2002 06:54:

i remember back in november 2001 or so at a party he played the white label track back then know as funk einsatz - punk...can you say massive trance anthem? Yea...he was canning this tune with his buddy ferry corsten while the rest of the djs were like "punk who?"...timo maas has good taste in my opinion...his azzido da baas - dooms night remix is legendary as well
