My first EDM compilation, I still have it to this day.

1. Poison - The Prodigy
2. Big Ditch - DJ Icey
3. Block Rockin Beats - The Chemical Brothers
4. We Have Explosive - Future Sound Of London
5. O.B.E. - Rabbit In The Moon
6. Higher State Of Consciousness - Wink
7. Caterpillar - Keoki
8. Born Slippy - Underworld
9. Sugar Is Sweeter - CJ Bolland
10. The Saint - Orbital
11. Toxygene - The Orb
12. Inner City Life (Radio Edit) - Goldie
13. Share The Fall - Reprezent
14. Sour Times - Portishead
15. Before Today (Adam F Remix) - Everything But The Girl
16. Busy Child - Crystal Method

After that it was Bad Boy Bill and Richard Humpty Vission - House Connection Vol 2..

I think I got off to a pretty solid EDM start.
Big Beat.

If you were looking for a solid answer on the first dj I ever saw.. it was Tiesto.

haha yeahhh, i remember bumpin' this when it first was released

however, i think it was Richard Vission in the house sector... late night saturdays while i listened to Power Tools... then years later daft punk's "homework" came out.

in the Trance department it was the imported cd... 'christopher lawrence - rise' that made me move.

ahhh... the good ol' days.

Posted by Clovis on Jun-20-2007 05:29:

I danced alot at clubs, and then one night I really DANCED.

That was Danny Howells @ Avalon Jan 28th 2006

Posted by y2yen on Jun-20-2007 05:56:

DJ wise - Ferry Corsten!
Song - Darren Tate - Fall From Grace

Posted by hooj1 on Jun-20-2007 06:09:

On CD Jonh Digweed 'Sydney'. Still one of my favs.

Live, Andy Hughes formally of The Orb at a rave in L.A. in 98'.

DJ, I saw C.L. at a rave in a roller rink in San Diego in 99' which was just insane. That was the first time I saw what a DJ was doing up close. Two months later I bought my turntables and 10 records. I mixed non stop with a friend for 16 hours with the same 10 records that same night!

ahh...the good ol' days. Some times I wish I was still ignorant of the whole DJ thing. Once you start to DJ and produce, it takes a little bit of fun out of going to see a DJ.

Certainly takes some of the magic out of it, once you realise it isn't that hard.

But I think it makes you appreciate good DJs that much more.

Talking my evolution

this is my evolution...

cheeseball trance like "alice deejay - better of alone, ian van dahl - castles in the sky, miss jane - its a fineeee dayyy, till i come, the launch, zombie nation, darude - sandstorm...)

DJ Dean Tunnel Trance Force... german hard trance

cosmic gate... bossi and chagal old skool beats (human beings, the truth, exploration of space)

Dutchy boys era: Tiesto (in concert dvd 1 & 2) & Armin Van Buuren

then... CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE really made me dance
(at home with cds: RISE, TEMPTATION, TRILOGY PART 1:EMPIRE, UNITED STATES OF TRANCE, AROUND THE WORLD, EXPOSURE IV, ALL OR NOTHING, SUBCULTURE 01, GATECRASHER LIVE IN MOSCOW) and in the club!!!!

now... still CL, j00f, Astrix, Infected Mushroom, Xerox & Illumination

but for the first was CL that really made me dance...

Nick Warren - GU Budapest: Amazing

Jerry Bonham - Spundae Interpretations 1

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These 2 are the shit!!!! Then there was also Trance Trippin' which was pretty good too. Got that down at DMC on Melrose Ave as a recommendation from one of the workers. Great suggestion.....

Me and one of my friends used to always leave 1015 at closing time back in 97-99 and pop in Spundae Interpretations. Never got sick of it. Seriously, it was like our alarm clock at around 6am every Saturday and Sunday morning for like 2 years!!!

There's also this one Techno compilation by Gayle San that was pretty kick ass.

Damn, you did ask for 1st DJ only huh? AHHHHHH..... Oh well.... Guess we'll just have to go with these 4.......

Why are people embarrassed about 9pm Til I come? that track is fucking BOMB!! No one should ever be ashamed of liking that song. Fuck man it came out what nine years ago? It was awesome, don't be ashamed lol. The Launch and Sandstorm however...yeah be ashamed, those were never good

edit // the first dj that made me DANCE dance was probably the first DJ I saw live. It was either Sandra Collins or BT, I don't remember who came on first but one of those two. I fell in love with dance music because of Sasha & Digweed though, can't believe the first time I've ever seen them together was NYE. Such a shame.

I don't remember the first DJ that truly stood out for me and made me dance, but I remember some of my first DJ's that I really did it for me...

RICHARD HUMPTY VISSION - THIS IS A TEST (Mixed CD) & WEEKEND KICK OFF MIX (Power 106 Radio Show)
- This is a test is my all time favorite Techno mixed CD. It's nothing but hits. I would never miss a weekend kick off mix on Power 106. They were amazing megamixes every Friday at 5pm. Richard Humpty Vission used to do them.

BAD BOY BILL... Bad Boy Bill was a frequent guest on Power 106, and back then it was all about the Party Crews. Bad Boy Bill, RHV, Tony B, Enrie, Irene, AJ Mora, Eddie Amador, and all the local DJ's from back then DJ'd at our parties. I remember Humpty used to charge us $600 and Bad Boy Bill was $1000. Good luck getting them for that much now.

2000 and Beyond
SASHA & DIGWEED @ DELTA HEAVY, Mayan 2002... That was the first time I ever stayed until the morning because of a DJ. That night was amazing. I went by my self, yet, I truly enjoyed the night. That was also the first time I saw people trying to buy tickets for over $100 a piece.

MAURO PICOTTO @ AFTER HOUR POWER (THE PALACE), Feb 2002... This was my friends Bday, and I told him that we should go to Club KIIS to see Mauro Picotto... KIIS FM used to broadcast live from the Palace back then. So we showed up around 3am and didn't leave until around 10am. Mauro played from 4am until 9am. That was the first time I ever stayed that late at a club. That night was amazing. First time seeing Mauro. This set got recorded too, and it was broadcast live on the radio. But I don't have it anymore. If anyone has it, hook a brother up!!!

ARMAND VAN HELDEN @ SPUNDAE (Circus).... 2005.... Oh man!!! If you were there, you know this night was AMAZING! To hear all my favorite classics again was a real treat.

DAFT PUNK @ COACHELLA... Simpy Amazing!

TIESTO in ROSARITO 2006... One hell of a night.

PAUL VAN DYK, FERRY CORSTEN, & SANDER K @ SPACE, MIAMI (WMC 2005)... Holy shit, this night is a memorable night for me. I can't belive it was noon, and Sweetcandy Girl, My self, and like 10 other people were still dancing to Ferry's set. I can't belive Ferry practically just played for us until that late. Than he invited all of us to the terrace where Sander K was playing. AMAZING NIGHT.
