Live that's not live

Is there a way to automate transitions with EQs in Ableton once the tracks are all lined up? I'm looking to do a studio mix strictly with Ableton. I've been going to the tutorials multiple times, and been digging on abletonlivedj.com, but can't seem to find a tutorial or information on laying down mixes in a "set" format, specifically with entire tracks.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean is there a way to record the automation (changes) you make the eq as you are making the set?

If so, yes. Just record the set as you are mixing - from the overall sequence, not the track. It will record all the automation you are making to the eq. Is that what you mean?

Use envelopes, line it all up in the arrangement view? Always get the two views mixed up, the one that looks like it's for producing, lol. Then spend many hours tweaking tiny little things and getting it perfected!

Envelopes can be used for Volume/"Mixer" etc so I suggest you make friends with them, I will of course not be explaining it to you because you have to discover stuff for yourself in my opinion, that and envelopes are tricky business and I only use the tip of the iceberg!

Just so you know, by recording automation, you are creating envelopes. Your midi motion is creating an envelope for whatever effect (eq in your case) you are controlling.

Not to be a Live nazi, but this sort of information is discussed comprehensibly in the Live MANUAL. Please read it or check out ALDJ for additional resources.

I know but this is premeditated enveloping, IE: Setting EVERYTHING, then just highlighting and rendering.

not to hijack this thread, but basically the same question.. would i be able to change bpms in the arrangement view?

Ableton's EQs are the suck.

Re: Re: Live that's not live

EQ8 in Live 6.0 is pretty sweet...

EQ3 sucks, yes.

I tried making a mix totally in arrangment view... found it VERY time consuming and wasn't happy with the end product. Best way for me is use a midi controller, do it "live" first, then just tweak a little here and there afterwards.

This is what you want.

That's the definition of automation.

It's exactly the same as any daw envelope/automation feature. Draw out or record your envelopes and then render. simple

as spawn said, this is basic manual stuff, it's exactly the same process i use for writing tracks in live

So we're done here?

Should I close threads when they get to this point of redundancy?
