Alex Pearce + Sander K Review @ Cielo

Ok well first thing first...this goes out to Ryan aka Slantz, you are absolutely right! I'm calling the day out I should have taken your advice and made my decision last night.

Alex Pearce, great warm up set, a little slow at first but nonetheless packed the room with some lovely bassline rips.

Sander K - set was decent, sounded more like a big room set like he was playing a friday or saturday night. Was kinda expecting him to keep it short and concise, to the point with bangers, kinda like an intimate set that we hear in most classic 2-3hr internet radio sets that float around. Overall, very much happy at this point...kinda dead tired, didn't get home til like 4...

DEFINITELY CALLING OUT...after my 10am conference call that is LOL

Cheers to a good TUESDAY night, a slight hangover, and struggling to think about work right now...i'll throw the towel in for this one since the weather looks shitty as hell.

Had a great time, despite the fact Cielo was fucking mobbed as usual, and it seemed like the AC was broke. What happened to the tough door policy???

Anyways, Alex, great opening set, with huge basslines like Nyce mentioned before, was dancing my ass off! Heard a couple of 16 Bit Lolita tracks. Got the crowd in a frenzy before Sander K came on...

On to Sander, he came on late which sucked because I had to leave at 2 so I could semi-function at work today. From what I heard, he wasnt impressive at all. Alex set him up nicely and I was expecting some big room basslines, but all that I heard was that jazzy Chicago house shit that sucks. Again, I only caught about 45 minutes, but this was a far cry compared to his Space Terrace set.

Good to see Luzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, Tyas, Lust-E, Brianna! Met a couple of other people there as well. BRING ON LAWLER!!!

Superb sets by both Alex and Sander (even though I was hoping he would start earlier, as I had to leave early), and marvelous time indeed - except for that brief power outage at around 2:30 am.

Sucks I missed it, but had to be at work at 7am today I would have literally had to come in and slept at my desk for 3 hours if I went. My sander cherry remains unpopped

One of the best nights out for me in a while!

Alex was awesome! Sander came on and played chill but progressed to a more funky electro sound as the night went on.

It was very crowded that night but the crowd was pretty friendly and into the music. The power went out at 2:30am but came back on 15 min later. It did have the effect of clearing out the place a bit which was good because it gave the rest of us more room

pretty solid night for a tuesday

pearce did a great job opening things up. played a buncha 16 bit lolitas tracks (neptune, dance fiction, & another one forget) and warm milk (dave roberson rmx) was def a treat on that system

sander came on bit later then expected..1:15-1:30. started slow but by 2:45-3 he started to rip it with some techy madness. couldn't id much from his set which was good i suppose. he also didnt utilize the dvdj visuals as much as he usually does. but he had a few tracks that had the vocals written on those screens synced to the music. the power outage was a bit unexpected but nothing major. and the place being mobbed and felt like a sauna at times made you move around more then usual

sander played till 4:30 and i had to drive back to LI which was rough but i made it haha

overall, fantastic night

i was stuck on the streets in heavy rain and then when i got to Cielo they kind of held up the line until after 12. Once inside after 12 i was surprised at how packed it was considering it was tuesday night and thunderstorming.

Alex Pearce had the crowd going already, enjoyed the tracks he was spinning, it didn't feel like an opening set because it was a good set in a packed house that was into it. Cielo has a good vibe i think.

Sander came on a little late (i expect dj's start at 1am, maybe a little earlier if its tuesday night) but i liked a lot of his set but i didn't think it was consistent. After the dj booth lost power for a few minutes at 2:30 i was waiting for a track i didn't like to leave on which didn't happen till around 3.

the bass in Cielo was good, and good for this type of music i think. When i went outside and leaned on the window the window was bouncing against me. Maybe this is partly because it is a much smaller room than say crobar.

definitely a great opening set that seemed to peak and be more than just an opening set. really solid. i got there relatively early as les djinns was playing and watched the whole thing boil over. i think sander had to keep his distance from that for a while.

I had a good time, but I've definitely have heard better sets from sander - this one was very hard and relentless, I always remember a little more funk and lightheartedness in his sets, and I was hoping on a tuesday at cielo it would have been a little more of an 'intimate' sound. he was playing mostly fucked up big room booty tech house with insipid lyrics and too many breakdowns

the place was really fucking crowded and thinned out as sander when through his set

the dvj visuals were not very engaging compared to the usual - it seemed rather standard.

i left when it ended and tried to wake up for work but failed miserably. looks like today is a half-day

Alex played a great opening set...best ive ever heard from him.

Sander started off very discoish/housey...but after about 45 min he went harder and techier...was lovin it. That Daft Punk rmx he dropped was ridiculous.

Great seeing alot of faces i havent seen in a while...had a blast, depsite losing 15 pounds in the sauna of a room.
