e) she thinks HE's going to wake up several times in the middle of the night on workdays so she can get her sleep.

Common misconception (ha, no pun intended). Not true. Sure it sucks for the first few months while you're adjusting, etc. But it becomes more fun as your kid matures. I have a 5 year old now, another one on the way and I'm having a blast. Just the fact that you're his/her hero (for at least 8-9 years) is worth it alone. Of course, then they start spending more time with their friends, then you get "I wish I was an orphan, etc" and "I HATE YOU!"... But hey... at least 8-9 years are gonna be good.

Not true. As a matter of fact, it actually gets quite good. Reasons - a) hormonal surge (read: chick gets horn3y) b) no contraception required c) her b00bs get bigger (much MUCH bigger)

Sometimes. Again, see above. I actually got relieved of that duty within first 2 weeks. Some nights I had to step up but the split was about 98% her 2% me. Not bad, the way I look at it.

I really don't want to sound like a typical baby hugger but while it does suck at first, you adjust and then you begin to appreciate it. Soon enough you can't remember how you lived without it. I dunno, I don't feel like a parent. I mean there are times when I do have to crack a whip or be stern (and I do begin to sound like my dad) but sometimes you just gotta crack a whip.

Besides, it's kinda cool - coz he can bring you TP when you're out, find a remote, help you sort your CDs/DVDs and just overall - cheap child labor. 1 ice cream goes a long way

p.s. Having a 5 year old also works as an excellent excuse to blow $400 on Nintendo Wii - I call it "investing into bonding experience"
