WEMF - Official Community Food Drive

Hi guys, I had a thought the other day on the DCM board and with the help from Dan Goulet (DJ Bacchus) we are going to make this happen.

Do you want to show the community that has been gracious in accepting WEMF appreciation in return? Here's your chance to take the opportunity to give back to the community!

The beginning of August is a time when Food Banks are at an absolute low. With the majority of the stockpiles from Christmas depleted, The Open Arms Mission is excited to hear of the willingess to help, and thanks you for your support.

Were asking that all those attending WEMF to bring a few items for this Food/Hygiene Item drive. Now, we know that cars are already packed for most people. But, with a drive of this size, just a few items each can make a huge difference for the community and the The Open Arms Mission.

We will be collecting these items at the entry gate all weekend.

What were looking for:
-----------------------------

Non-Perishable Food Items such as:

 Canned Pasta Sauces
 Canned Vegetables
 Canned Meat (Tuna, Salmon, Ham)
 Canned Fruits
 Canned Soups, Stews & Chili
 Preserved Vegetables (Pickles)
 Dry Pasta & Rice
 Dry Cereal & Cereal Bars
Peanut Butter, Jam, Ketchup, Mustard (or any other toppings & condiments)
 Baby Formula & Baby Food

Hygiene Items (These Items are just as needed, and donated less!) :

 Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes, Mouthwash
 Soap & Shampoo/Conditioner
 Deodorant/Anti-Perspirent
 Shaving Cream

THANK YOU in advanced for making this a success!

I'll do it as long as it keeps the residents from bitching.

This is pretty cool.. I would do it

Thumbs up

Absolutely!!

I want to do this. It's a fantastic way to give back, and in a way that is directly associated with this festival.

And if it can have a positive effect on the image of WEMF with communities and individuals who live in the surrounding areas near where WEMF is held each year, then I am 100% on board for this cause.

Fantastic idea, Andie! I commend you, girl. You're always thinking of others... it's inspiring.

Count me in on the efforts for 2!

/Jem

Yes. As John Tang is ever fond of saying: SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT YOU!

Another cause is being brought to our scene!! Fantastic. I hope many will help out and show their support. Another chance for those in our scene to come together and show ppl what we are capable of.

id do it for sure, but what about the majority of the people that are going to wemf? most people on this planet are selfish and only go out of their way for someone when they know they will get something out of it. Its awesome u guys came up with this idea but seriously how many of the 5000+ ppl are going to bring food to donate?

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jun-21-2007 03:00:

I will make the effort.

Even if only a few do, it's worthwhile.

Hopefully that shant be the case, though.

Although I won't be there, I think this is a perfect idea. Think of all the stuff you'll get if everyone who attends WEMF simply brings ONE thing. Hopefully some'll bring a bit more. Way ta go.

The response we are getting is amazing. I know that not everyone will bring something, and it might just be that they didn't know, or even that they didn't want to, but we are an amazing community and I believe that we will surprize a few people.

I am going to keep this thread alive

Thanks for your Support dudes!

The support has been greater than expected! The word has been spread on NUMEROUS message boards, along with Facebook and Myspace. Destiny has also included in the mailer, and it's also been included in the official press release (and article in this morning's Tribune, the local Welland paper).

Thanks again!!

It's already been considered!

We'll have a few barrels located at the exit. The final pickup from Open Arms Mission won't be until after noon!
