I was trying something different with Joakin, the drummer. His percussion skills are off the charts, and I have played with him before, figured I would give it a shot. It was fun and intersting, and some loved it some didn't. He was only supposed to play for about 30 minutes during my set, which he did, but porter liked it so he asked him to play again. It's not a common thing for me, and I don't have any immediate plans to do it again, but from my view of the club, it certainly wasn't hurting things at the Fifth! But I understand it's not everyones bag.

i know the intention man, i had a drummer for one of my outdoor party i did, its just that the drummer at the fifth was too loud, it overpowered the whole amplitude cuz he was feeling good and banging away, which would lead to some negative result.

Porterhouse 2005 was the best.

well i am going on friday regardless of drummers or not...Eli = good dj and one of the nicest guys on the planet, Chris Micali is one of the most talented prouducers out just now and, tom bartlett is one of the nastiest dj i have ever heard - so underrated! Plus they bring out one of the best crowds @ rise when they play.

Tae,,,Eli played some great fucking tunes but the drummer fucked it up for me,,what can I say????...Every mix sounded like a trainwreck because the drummer obviously didn't know the tunes...

When Porter came on there was two people on the drums..I could hear nothing except for bad drums...

The place was empty and hardly anyone was dancing,,we were at the back by the bar..You could hear the tunes being played but you couldn't hear the mixing..

This party is responsible for the fact that I will only support the local talent in NYC and Boston,,people that are passionate...There was absolutely no thought that went into that night at all just a crappy home made banner above the booth...

This was my first and last WMC experience and all I have to remember it by is memories of a crappy drummer....Joakin needs chokin.....

However I'm gonna give you a pass...By the way,,,what are you doing July 14th....

my good friend and fellow label chum chris reavey is getting married on the 14th of july. no party for me! other than a wedding reception

it's not all horrible. i went to some great parties down there.
there are some idjots (ok there are lots of em) but i found a way to get zen.
every night when i left the party (5-6am) i would walk 3miles on south beach to get home. nothing but the waves crashing and nice ocean breeze in the pre-dawn light. noone to bother you... wish i was there now.

either way, sorry about your experience. i think it depends on the venue and the sound system when you have a drummer involved.

After doing WMC for a couple years i learned that you gotta pick your parties and watch out for the venues, and always have a back up plan or two. More or less same deal in miami as everywhere else, except when a night gets fooked up @ WMC, normally you have 4 or 5 back up parties to hit. Wish it was like that all the damn time!! =)

And usually, all of said preparation of parties you want to hit goes right out the window the second you check in & get your badge... ::shrug:: guess we really haven't progressed beyond 2nd grade afterall, it's just recess for adults.

besides you know eli rocks it when he wants to...

eli has never failed to get me dancing (admittedly it doesn't take much)

but he actually keeps me going! i don't get bored with his tunes.
