Your Nicknames
was just thinking about people nicksnames o nthis site, and curious as how they got it, or what the meaning behind their handle was....some of them are clearly obvious, and anybe some go deeper, as for mine....i get Darouge from....well, my name in polish is basically daruz (theres another one, but not important right now) and is used to wear red alot back when i was younger...and just figured since rouge is red in french, and if u sound out my polish name, its almost the same thing....so thats the story.... anyone else have something more interesting behind their name?
made my up in 6th grade cuz i was facinated by monkeys. my last name starts with an 'S'. put the two togther, with some bad spelling, and u get smuncky

I got mine in early high school. I can't even remember which friend gave it to me. It's just a short form of my last name, "kotsopoulos". It's kind of incredible how many people actually call me it: my dad (felt so weird), my general manager at work and some of my really good friends actually thought that was my real name because I have a bunch of friends that only ever call me it.
mine was a product of absolutely randomness, which later got modified by the great mind of Cosmic Fur 
geroin because of my name, (it means heroin in russian lol) back in the day some of my russian buddies called me that because my name in russian is the same as the word coke is to cocaine if that makes sense.
i have a bunch of rl nicknames..one is thegreat, one guy started calling me gera the great back in highschool after a grade 11 history class lol, then everyone picked it up and just called me thegreat so it stuck with me..
my old TA name "chanoa" is b/c my sisters and i were picking out baby names for my niece, and i wanted Noa, but they said it was too boyish, so i said chanoa. they had a boy

as a matter of fact im kinda boozie right now, what a coincidence! 
Mine is 'kato'
given to me by the guys at work, if you ever watched the pink panther movies with pete sellers then you'll understand why, kato's job was to keep cluseau on hos toes, and keep his martial arts skilled honed...
i keep the guys at work on their toes as i'll sneak up behind them, throw them in chokeholds and arm locks, fighting the aisles gets us through a boring day at work.
on another note, i dont think one can create nicknames, they have to be given...i.e. for those of you who watch racing giancarlo fisichella earned the name 'fifi'...you cant just going around saying "my name is Joe vanelli, but you can call me...joe luis vuitton superstar vanelli"
(i couldnt think of a better example, came up with that now)

When I was in high school I used to love the company of adults...and since I was always the youngest, they wanted to refer me to something babylike...hence the name Crib.
