Ableton and Midi Controllers

I was wondering what the best midi controller is for ableton live. How is the Numark TotalControl?

You can find a lot of information on the subject if you run a search.

Xone 3D...go save some money

My personal recommendation is the Novation SL Remote Zero.

I use an Evolution UC-33e, great MIDI controller for the price.

If you're going to buy a Xone:3D I suggest you look into a Jazzmutant Lemur, same price basically + touch screen. I just ordered one this week.

I'd get a damn Lemur!

Posted by jupiterone on Jun-24-2007 22:07:

+ You can control VJ sets along with your Ableton sets all on one screen. You can essentially BUILD Ableton in Lemur. You get a program that allows you to create basically your entire mixing/live surface for you so you can create a surface similar to Ableton or even more convenient, it's insane. Plus you aren't limited to only 1 viewport, you can switch between viewports and modules and do a lot of crap at once.

If you've got the cash, I say go take the 60 Day risk-free try of the Lemur and if you aren't satisfied you can return it back for a complete refund + they pay free shipping.

I'd vote for the lemur too. Amazingly versitile interface that can do just about anything.

That's the first I've ever heard of the Lemur, but from doing a bit of research, it looks amazing.

Surely this device is the next big thing in DJing, like Ableton was a few years ago?

I'm surprised at the amount of artists already using them. Bodzin, Hawtin, Kraftwerk...

sick.

the XONE:3D is nice... but i don't think it's worth the money if you JUST want a midi controller. the whole point of the 3D is a mixer with midi controller dedication as well. no point in paying all that money for the expensive audio components inside the mixer if they're not going to get a workout.

low price: the Evolution UC-33e can't be beat

if you're looking for something better, then i'd agree with the Novation SL Zero recommendation
