-- Bruising....

Bruising....

Just wondering...

Does bruising have to be caused by an impact? Say knocking my arm against a table...

I keep getting bruises on my biceps...quite yellowly brown rather than black...any ideas?

Oh and they stay visible when I roll a glass over them.

nah bruising is caused by any blood vessel leaking blood under the skin.
i get em sometimes on my biceps just from lifting heavy boxes at work. i figure the muscle action forces blood around and the pressure of the box stops it from going anywhere and something breaks.

If it's rash that doesn't fade under pressure, it could be meningitis. Bruising I'm not too sure about though.

just cut yourself and let the blood flow freely.

Google it. But I think it's if it doesn't disappear. If you're unsure, go up to A&E or ring NHS Direct.

Sounds like HIV/AIDS to me. Seriously

i get them a lot too. are you doing a lot of physical activity? you don't need too much pressure against the bicep muscle to create a yellowish bruise, as long as it's a concentrated pressure. i get them often when i grapple with my sparring buddies, just the pressure of a finger clutched on your arm, pulling you, can cause a bruise. i look like i've been beaten to shit after a few rounds of grappling that really didn't cause any pain at all.

You sure it isn't related to that kidney problem you had?

I'd see a doctor, just in case

isn't bruising just stuff on the inside breaking? maybe you're internally bleeding like Theresa.

i never seem to bruise...even after surgery or whatever.

ps, wtf is up w/ putting glass over it? i don' tknow the point of that.

How big is it?

If it's not too large and you do alot of physical activity, especially weights then you may be overdoing it. Try cutting your routine down a bit or if you had a big weekend of sport, have a few days rest.

I have 2 on my left bicep...one on my right...all about an inch in diameter.
I lift heavy weights at work. Sacks of salt that are 40kg (90lb) and large boxes too.
I was concerned it could be jaundice or something like that as I know it can give you yellow bruising.

Oh and putting a glass over it is a way to check for meningitis.

Why, do you have a history of liver problems? The first sign of Jaundice is yellowing of the eyes and it's very noticeable.

Relax, you're fine. Take a week or two off from the weights and see if it helps. As I suspected you're probably overworking yourself. You need to develop a program which alternates between exercises so you don't do any damage.

EDIT - I just re-read that. Heavy weights at work, hmm that could be tougher to take a break from hehe Speak to your boss and see if you can lay off the heavy lifting for a few days.
