Classic trance tracks/labels

So I was asked to DJ a party when I get back to school, and I want to impress and build up massive energy by spinning some classic trance (1997-2001 stuff). I've done it before but I want it to expand my library a bit. What labels do you guys recommend I should look into that had consistently good releases during this time? I want to spin the kind of trance you'd hear from Paul van Dyk's Rosenmontagsrave sets, and I have many of those tracks already.

Extravaganza, Anuna Beats and Hooj Tunes are all good.

back then shit i listened to was pretty much wot u would find on the first two trance nation CD's and other cd's of this time scale.

of course Cafe Del Mar, imo a must... Altitude - Altitude (S H O K K remix), binary finary, Watergate - Heart of Asia - just listen to some old trance compilations etc - best way forward if ur unsure imo! lol

Well to me it was. It's the only time I can recall when so many anthems were released and when many trance DJs talked about on these forums rose to fame.

They were back then, when it was original. Besides many anthems are classic now because very few good tunes are produced these days.

Maybe they are trance classics, but they aren't classic trance

1997 is when all the copy-catting STARTED. 1991-1994 is where the true pioneering began, with loads of experimentation.

What these guys are trying to tell you is that your wording is incorrect. Classic trance or proper trance which can be used interchangeably is the original birth genre of trance that started in the late 80's - early 90's.

All you have to do is switch the words around and you'll get some replies! Instead of saying I need classic trance, try saying I need trance classics from the 97-2001 era. Personally I already knew what you were trying to say so I recommend you look into this thread which is also stickied above: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...5&pagenumber=14
