3 Years
I have been in Toronto for 3 years today.
I arrived here on the 26th June 2004 with a heart full of hopes and dreams for the future. The first year was a complete rollercoaster of emotions and at the end of it, saw me making plans to return to England. My mum convinced me to stick it out a short while longer (despite missing me desperately, we talk for an hour every single day) and now I can't see myself leaving. Not for good anyway.
So, I would like to win the award for soppiest thread today and take this opportunity to thank a big bunch of you TAs for making the last year here so much fun. I have made firm friends from here that I know will be around for many years to come. Thank you.

happy canaversary

You're all so bloody lovely!!! Thank you!
Yohan, yes, I will become a Canadian citizen as soon as I can but in the meantime, I have to become permanent resident (I am so lazy, my application is in but I have to get a banker's draft).
Does this make you Canadian Rachel, or are we still going with English?
Maybe Commonwealth Rachel?

I will always be English Rachel but I will take the crown English Canadian Rachel if it is up for grabs.
My kids will be Canadian though. None of this 20th generation heritage, they will say, "My mom is English but me and my dad are Canadian".
