DVDJ vs CDJ Set
What does the DVDJ have to offer that the CDJ does not?
I don't know anything about DJ equipment so please explain like you would to a noob.
I'm sure most of you saw Sander K either in SF or LA this past week and I'm seeing him in Vegas on Thursday, so I just want to have some knowledge of what to look/hear for when he's spinnin.
Thanks!
dvdj plays music with videos along with it
cdj just plays music cds
sander is top notch with his dvdj sets.. enjoy!
saw him last Halloween at RS. sander k just had videos that went w/ music, nothing really amazing IMO
here's my pics/videos: http://www.nextlevel.ws/rizo/061031/
SAN FRAN CISCO!
This is not Miami
he had the mvid for Daft Punk's Around the World but not for smack my bitch up
yah just videos goin along with the music... reminds me of like winamp stuff lol
doesnt do anything for me

So the vids are preloaded on the DVD and they play with the song? Can the DJ mix the vids that are on it as well?
Saw Sander use them a couple years back in Atlanta on the DVJ tour.. was badass... had eaten a chocolate shroom... those vids were the sickness... man, that was definately Sander's prime

The DVJ's are made alot better too. More dependable.
as was said before, dvj's are just like cdj's except they can also play dvd's which means you can control video the same way you would be able to control a cd or a record on a cdj or a turntable.
and i'm sure you need a video mixer for it. i think you're not harnessing its full potential if you're using a normal mixer
Pioneer DJV-1000/VSW-1 combination from agiprodj on Vimeo

personally i feel it's no big deal... still listening to music and the dj is still beatmatching...
my friend likes the visual things, he wants to learn DVDJ's...I don't care for it. Maybe at a rave where everyone's tripped up and its just too cool of an experience, but I'm passionate for music.

I think there's more to it than just moving a fader. Depending on the mixer, the video fader is separate than the audio fader, so you can be playing the video from one DVDJ while playing the audio from another.
I remember seeing DJ Roonie G in vegas last year spinning on DVDJ's. He was mostly doing music videos but it was pretty trippy seeing him scratch to videos. The video moves forwards and backwards just like scratching to vinyl.

Visuals add so much to a show. I love lights and lasers and always have, but I tell ya, visuals add a thoughtfulness to the music... more of an interpretive aesthetic.
