Hip Hop .. what's good this month

I know its TA , but swamper already made it clear that's it's alright to discuss other genres. So what's good with hip hop lately. The past year about 90% of the releases have been dissapointing. If you guys have any new hip hop videos to share that you think stand out from the rest please do so.

This is what hip hop need more of.

Basically, that's some stuff I've been feeling this year. I know there are tons more. I Feel Like Dying by Weezy is my favorite track of the year, but I know that's not for everyone so I didn't post it.

I'm everywhere I've never been
and better than I've ever been...

Good lookin out for the videos. I've been a Weezy fan since his mixtape days, on point lyricist. You heard when he said "I'm ridin' marked up like the trains in Harlem", He's got skillz, I'm waiting for Raekwon's only built for Cuban Linx part 2 , I hope it gets a release this year. The first one is one of my favorite albums of all time. That Cassidy trak is fire, shit, I never heard that one.

I love how Young Jeezy has samples of himself going "yeaaaaahhh" and "eiiiiiiihhh" in the background. It seems like they are in every song by him.

Dunno about this month but I've really been digging the album from Wisemen. It's called 'Wisemen Approaching'. This artist is a Wu Affiliate it has the typical Wu sound as it is produced mainly by Bronze Nazareth. Has some really nice joints and tight guest appearances from Killah Priest, GZA and Planet Asia. Think it's 2007's best hip hop album so far for me

The second video that was posted is tight. The classic with nas, krs-one, rakim, and kaney. The stuff that Shane posted is what is wrong with rap music imo, over-produced and soulless though that kid in the hallz song was aight.

classics is amazing thats tru hip hop!

Nah. Not at all. I don't see how you can say that Lil Wayne song is what's wrong with hip hop. His lyrics are great. Not all hip hop is going to sound like it was produced by Pete Rock or Primo.

wow. classic is a great track.

True, great track!

I also like the Common track

Most Hip Hop today is pure rubbish. The only good songs posted here is the common track and Classic.
The biggest Hip Hop happening this year will probably be the release of Immortal Techniques 3rd album "The Middle Passage". Can't wait for it to come, this guy is top notch in Hip Hop today when it comes to lyrics and rapping skills.

You just gotta dig deeper.

I know there is still good Hip Hop out there today. Immortal Technique like I mentioned is a good example. But the Hip Hop that is popular nowadays sucks pretty bad when it comes to everything.

In anycase, the new Talib Kweli album is pretty sick. The first song, Everything Man is definitely one of my favorites right now. His lyrics on it are outstanding.

quote:
but incidentally, my energy's heavenly
can he be so ill? there ain't no deal on the remedy.
the maker of memories, possess the recipe to your fate.
make no mistake, there ain't no escapin' your destiny.
especially 'til death do us part like wedding rings.
i'll be here forever, put that on everything.

On the subject of lyrics, here's one of my favorite Weezy Baby snippets (and it shows that he is an actual lyricist):

quote:
you looking for divine and a little intervention,
and them birds don't fly without my permission.
i'm probably in the sky flying with the fishes,
or maybe in the ocean swimming with the pigeons,
see... my world is different.

I like Immortal Technique's raw style of rapping. Also be sure to check out Killah Priest's new album - 'The Offering' when it comes out. I already heard that this is gonna be huge !! I can't wait !!

God what a long wait it is for The Middle Passage. It better be at least as good as Revolutionary vol 2.

Immortal Technique "the rawest nigga ever produced".

Hadn't heard the first 2 tracks before - really like 'em The 'common' track is awesome and i love anything that Nas touches.

Any chance you could post more of your recent favourites Cipha?

3 Melancholy Gypsies - Grand Caravan To The Rim Of The World would get my vote for one badass hip hop album

Yeah? I wasn't really a big fan of that, and I usually sweat anything Eligh does. I liked maybe 4 songs off that album.

Also, I really don't get all the love for Immortal Technique. His flow is extremely boring and he ALWAYS rhymes about the same things.

Slum Village should be releasing a new album soon. That will make me so happy. I think Elzhi is one of the best rappers out right now.

Eeek. I totally forgot...

The new Tragedy Khadafi album, The Death of Tragedy, is awesome. I don't know why a lot of the tracks are only a minute long, but it's still a dope album, if you can find it.

Dj Khaled feat Beanie Sigel - pay for attention, he's been gone for a while but cuz of problems with Jay Z and former CEO of Roc-a-fella Dame Dash.

Yeah... that is a pretty good song. One of the few I really liked from the Khaled album.

Back to Weezy, (yeah... he's probably my favorite rapper right now, mainly 'cause no other artists I like put out as much music as he does), this is one of my favorite tracks he's ever done:
