Freesoup - DJ Mag Mastermix Entry - 10mins July

Well I've decided that Im going to enter the DJ mag mastermix video demo competition. You basically have to take a video of yourself mixing for 10 mins. The winner gets 2x Pioneer DVJ's.

This is my entry anyway - I'll be recording the video next week once my camera arrives so you can all see how its done if your interested. Theres some 3 deck mixing - looping, effects - as creative as I could be using house music anyway. Im aware that the tracks are old but I don't think it matters too much with this. This isn't the finished version, since it has to be 10mins 30 maximum and well theres some improvement to be had on the mixes but I wanted to listen on the iPod tomoz.

Mixed on 3x Pioneer CDJ 800 - Pioneer DJM600

http://www.freesoup.net/mixes/frees...g_mastermix.zip

01. Magik Johnson - Feel Alright (Solid Groove Remix) (CDJ Intro Edit)
02. Cirez D - Teaser (Soup Cut)
03. Lostep - Because We Can (Soup Cut)
04. Hijack - Hijackin' (Herve's Fuck Fuck Remix) (Soup Cut)
05. Gutterpunk - Up To 11 (The Yank Mix)

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Soup

P.S Personally I think the first tune is abit too long I dunno - I just feel like I should have more records.

DJ Freesoup sounds rather awkward.

its not DJ Freesoup - its Freesoup...

yeah well change it to something catchy. soup is the most ordinary food item and when you say your soup is free, it cheapens the whole thing further
my 0.02

I'll listen but do you really want to put a track that is on a ministry of sound cd in a mix for djmag? I mean maybe branch out a bit?

Soup is only ordinary when it's in a can, you can get quite posh soups when in restaurants

Gutterpunk is hardly ministry of sound just because its on a sessions cd...an anyway, the sessions series had been quite good.

Maybe, its just a personal opinion. I am guessing they will receive many submissions laced with popular material, if it was me i just think i'd go with something a little more unique to set the bar just that much higher.Like i said its only what i think.

Yeah I know I didn't mean for that post to sound as frank as it did I've put the mix up cause I want it to be spot on when it comes to the video - criticism is vital, so maybe you are right. Hijack happens to be abit of a mental record, so following it is quite difficult - gutterpunk worked quite well so it seemed the obvious choice but maybe thats whats wrong with it.
