this discussion can go in so many typical directions.. at the end of the day, everyone bites off, samples, copies, etc.... as long as people get paid and/or credited. and many of daft punks hits are rehashed songs anyways: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJPdVVOmbz4
the thing that will amuse me is when my top40-music-listening friends "discover" this after having dissed it years ago
Hmm, a ton of my top-40 loving friends happen to love Daft Punks older stuff....thanks to MTV! MTV played it, so they loved it!!
Haha.
People on here will hate on this because it's Kanye...and well, they'll think they are "cool" for expressing how much they hate it...at the end of the day, I think for taking a Daft Punk song and putting rap over it, he did a pretty good job. It could have been so much worse, and at least he paid homage to Daft Punk and have them (or at least peeps in their costumes) in the video. Also like how he called the track "Stronger," to keep it in line with the original track's name. Think this all shows a good bit of respect towards DP. Still hate him as a person though.
BTW, I have to say, think this song is something that sounds very puff-daddy-ish to me. Puff back in the 90s that is. Just wanted to say that, lol.
i think the song is ok...
but i like Kanye though...
he isn't as hyphy or blingy as the other rappers y0!
honestly i think (even if it wasnt a daft punk track or whatever) the rap is terrible on it. it doesnt follow the groove of the track at all. the thing i always liked about the 90s westcoast rappers is yeah they were rapping on funk but dude they at least made their vocal go with the track.. I feel like kanye just records a vocal and then gets a beat for it or something lol
whatever
i thought i would never see a thread for Kanye hahaha. yeah i heard it too over the radio when i was browsing around and first thing i heard was... OM effin G. its daft punk sample. its was terrible! lol. well what can we do artist are running out of ideas. shit.

i really think the song is much better than the hip hop songs i usually hear nowadays. it sounds very catchy and unique compared to others, which is what kanye is good at from what i know. that is actually daft punk in the video.
The lines that he has over the daft punk edit are absolutely terrible. I'm shocked to see DP in the video too.
i love kanye, love daft punk.....this beat is shit. looking forward to the album though.
from a business sense, this is smart for hip hop, because it pulls in EDM listeners into the hip hop mix....convergence. Its also good for EDM...same reason convergence.

is kanye west serious? this song is terrible yet everybody is gonna be all over this song. stick to your music rappers, don't be mixing classic tracks with your crap.

apparently the music video is also a "rip-off", or pays "homage", or is "inspired by" the movie AKIRA
Full comparison here...
