The Tom Tom's are fairly good and sort of roughly in the amount or less you want to spend on them. Really easy to use interface on them as well, been thinking about getting rid of my old Garmin for one.

You won't go wrong with either, but like you said if you don't really need the extra stuff then save some money and get an entry level Tom Tom which just does the job.

Posted by bubble on Jun-30-2007 05:35:

i think that for the vast majority of people, these are a total waste of money and a distraction. i don't understand why someone who is not constantly driving to new places would ever need one. i admit they are kind of neat though, but $500 seems a bit much for a novelty.

what do you mean by enrty level tom tom? is that like a model?

These are the main thing that my Sat Nav MUST have:
hand free calling
big screen
long battery life.
street name calling
speeding alert.

Check out the Nuvi 350 and 360, they are cheaper and get the job done.

Check out this site... www.tigergps.com - they have everything there, and it would be alot cheaper for you to order from the US - depending on how far internationally its shipping.

Posted by Googooly on Jun-30-2007 20:42:

okay im deffinatly choosing between these two.

TOMTOM 510

OR

Garmin 610

which one you think its better?

Posted by Googooly on Jun-30-2007 20:48:

anybody?

Posted by tubularbills on Jun-30-2007 20:52:

i still don't see the point in these thing. i mean, are you that bad at directions? do you really need something to tell you "turn right, 100 meters"

sure its kinda cool the first few times around, but i mean, if you're in your local area .... don't you think you should know where everything is? i mean, do you honestly need to look up where all the mcdonald's are? can't you just google maps before you go out somewhere?

i dunno, i'm rather content w/ my own brain and maybe an atlas if i'm traveling out of the area.

i just don't think it's that hard to get around, i guess.

the reason i want this is becuase i keep getting send diffrent place every day and sometimes 3/4 times a day! they are not all local, some times i have to travel for hours.

so getting this would save Me ALOT of times looking at the map book.

i still dont know why you are so against this thing. I think its one of the best thing invented to help drivers.

i just don't think it's worth the money, i guess. especially when maps are only like $5. then again too, i've never had any problems being lost and freaking out not knowing how to get somewhere.

i guess i can understand if you are a delivery person, and you need to know how to get from delivery #1 to #2 and so on. but even then if you are staying in the local area, you get to figure out the shortcuts/neighborhoods pretty fast...don't you?

Garmin is better than Tom Tom. Unless you'd prefer to have a load of gimmicky shit that you'll never use.
