Metal Slug

I think I may be addicted to my first game since Unreal Tournament.

Metal Slug Anthology on Wii is just so fucking good. So simple, with such shitty graphics, yet manages to far outstrip all these new million-dollar-budget games with dynamic fog rendering, dithering, anti-aliasing and whatever gay effects they want. Plus, the nostalgic memories of playing this in my childhood make it extra good.

In related news, last nigt I scored a -6 for Golf in Wii sports, and 258 for bowling.

Yup, I'm addicted.

Get off your high horse. The Metal Slug games have some of the best 2D graphics.

Metal Slug indeed is the shit.

Thru out the years ive been playing MS, my latest purchase is "metal slug mobile" on my phone. $6 bucks, i'd say i got my moneys worth. It is a really bad waterd down metal slug game but it has it fun when theres not a console around.

cheers

It's kinda like Contra but you don't die as much

I much preferred Gondomania (vertical scroller). There are ROMS out there for it so check it out!

Not sure if we are allowed to talk about emulation, but I have roms of the first 4 metal slugs (1, 2, X, and 3) on the NeoRage emulator. Of course, I also used to shell out money to play metal slug when it was on arcade machines, though only one place ever had it.

Gah!

Contra was too hard for n00bs like me. My longest games used to last less than five minutes.

Lava Giant
Hall Of Giants
Orbital

Chaos UT mod with all relics.

UT Fortress if I'm feeling adventurous, with M16, Howitzer, proxy mines etc. Such a good mod.

I think one of the best things about that game was the rock solid soundtrack; very well produced. The music would always get you in the mood for some killing.
