DWI checkpoints

Man fuck this.

Stupid ass cops hassling me. He said I was being a smart ass, well fuck him. Made me get out and do all that junk, following pens and shit. I had my bong in the car too, and it was covered by my tennis racquet, and he kept looking over to it. I was like "fuuuuuck". He said, "I know your lying" I said, "Man, you're crazy" and drove away.

lame ass idiot! i'm not drunk either, that's what's funny, so the joke's on him.

in my town the cops give sobriety tests by judging your guido fistpump from a scale of 1 to 10

Posted by tubularbills on Jun-30-2007 07:50:

random checks suck. btu i guess its good to get potentially dangerous people off the roads.

the funny thing is that they only put drunk drivers in jail.
they should shoot them right there on the spot and give their car as a donation to someone in need

Fucking checkpoints are a bitch. I get the word out to all my boys that im sure are going to pass tru there.

Im usually fucked up but can play it off.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Jun-30-2007 08:02:

i read someone (must've been digg or engadget) about a GPS system that also has it's own radar+laser detector, as well as common "hotspots" for checkpoints (which can be seasonal, such as July 4)

At least you don't live in Australia (and I'm sure some other countries too) where they do mandatory breathalyser tests at checkpoints. No way you're going to outsmart those. Not to mention there are also some countries where if you're convicted of drunk driving you lose your license for life.

The way it should be. You should get 5 years of jail on top of that too.

I completely agree...here in the US I hear about repeat drunk drivers killing innocent people all the time. In my state they're trying to make it so if you kill someone in an auto accident while drunk you'll be convicted of 2nd degree murder, the way it should be. Currently you would get "vehicular manslaughter" which would get you at most a few years in prison. There definitely needs to be stricter penalties, way too many innocent people die because of this shit.

Not only that but people get arrested for DUI and all they get is a slap on the wrist and they're back on the road shortly. You get caught on a DUI once and you've just shown you don't have the maturity or the responsibility to drive a car, ever.

That was fucking classic!

//end thread

If we had a decent fucking mass transit system like in Europe then people wouldn't have to drive back home after getting drunk. As things are, you either need a DD or just crash at somewhere close by (which I usually do).

lolol last year they set one up on the main road into campus while i was working delivery for the night, HUGE pain in the ass. anyways, the cops were cool, but holy shit it was hilarious watching them work. not only did they have the small roadblock etc, but they had unmarked cop cars sitting like 1/4 mile down the road in either direction. seriously like every minute someone would be going towards it, see the sign, and turn around as fast as they could. and then BAM they get screwed by the unmarked car

cops at the checkpoint i don't think caught a single person, but the unmarked cars had a fuckin field day

in india the punishment is death for drunk driving. In other countries they drive you 20 miles out and have u walk home. no joke.

Posted by gehzumteufel on Jul-01-2007 06:01:

they just need to make it much harder to attain a license here in the states. and make the fines HUGE.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Jul-01-2007 06:17:

they need to show better gore videos during high school presentations.

I remember our drunk driving presentation as a very tame VHS tape with a bunch of numbers and graphs and statistics which caught no ones attention and we were all busy tossing salds in the air or whatever.

if they showed pictures of people's faces ripped off and girlfriend's heads decapitated from driving into a tree, kids would at least notice the video and maybe, just maybe, be scared straight (or scarRed straight, amirite?)

isn't a DUI a felony? if you get a felony, you're fucked. sure you can still drive, but no one will ever hire you. maybe walmart.

it's not quite that severe. A theft or a fraud could be a felony. You can't really put it into the same category as murder. There are different degrees of felony.

Posted by clubamerica on Jul-01-2007 08:22:

Yup.. here in the states the laws are too lax.DUI should be a felony.and ur DL suspended at least 5 years.I remember whene i got my DUI i got a heavy fine 1year DL suspended and comunnity service and dui clases.during those clases they showed us all those DRUNK DRIVING commercials "friends dont let friends drive drunk'do whatever it takes".11 years removed after watching those videos i have never drove while drunk.

IMO, I don't see how that will help. For some people, it doesn't matter whether they have a license or not. They will still drive a vehicle regardless. And most of those types of people don't seem to mind driving intoxicated either.

All you really can do is toughen up DUI violations. But let's not go too overboard and give 20 years for someone who's just a tiny bit over the legal drinking limit.

You should never have received your license back.

Australia has a very good system, with random checks. It seems not many people drink and drive. I dont drive here in Australia, but when I go home to NY for visits I wonder why they dont have the same system, I think it would really work. The limit should be lowered in the states. .08 is too high. Personally I think even two drinks can affect anyone's ability to drive.
