wtf story (oh and some tech support please)
so there's this really fucking stupid chick who just moved into our building. she's from the midwest somewhere and talks like an airheaded moron.
anyway, my mom told me about her because she met her at the pool and the girl just talks my mom's head off with dumb questions about the weather and stuff and my mom is just like,
half the time lol.
so my mom tells me that she asked my mom about a week ago if she can pay us $20 a month to share our internet. my mom told me that she told the girl she wasn't really sure, but that she'd let her know, or that she'd have me talk to her. she was like, "well let me ask my daughter" type of thing.
so i kinda forgot about it, but i meant to ask some friends if that's ok. i dont really know if that puts us at risk, or if it'll fuck up my connection, etc...
well the bitch just knocks on my door and is all like, "hiii!
i live next door, bla bla bab la and im supposed to be paying you guys $20 a month and we're going to share internet connection, bla bla bla"
TOTALLY acts like it's a done deal right? so i'm like haha hell no. so i interrupt her and i'm like, "actually i believe my mom told you that she was going to talk to me first and we would let you know" and she's like, "oh...ok" and i'm like, "Yea i need to fix my own connection first and talk to my friend about it because i'm not really sure if it's a good idea or not, but i wanted to get an opinion first, and i just haven't gotten around to it" and she's like, "oh hehe ok, well yea" and i'm like, "yea so i'll let u know this week"
what the fuck? i mean, i'm sure this isn't a big deal, but dont be fucking coming over here and trying to pull a fast one on me and assume that shit is ok even though we really didn't give her a definite answer.
is it me or would that piss you off too?
oh yea, and is it ok to share internet connection like that with a neighbor? she's a college student and never watches tv, and doesn't have a house phone line, so she doesn't want to go through the trouble of getting DSL or cable set up in her apt. she just needs internet for school.
what do i have to do? give her my password? i think i set it up so that i'm on a secured network, but god knows wtf i did when i set this crap up. lol
LOL
u got CATV/UTP?
u got public/private IP?
use a switch and split the connection, plus u'll make an extra 20 $ / month
PS: you are funny
what do u mean use a switch?
its fine, just lay down some ground rules like no illegal downloading and shit and get her to sign something so if shit happens (sometimes it does) you're not liable.
other than that... im pretty sure youre good.
yay for $20

i was just annoyed that she came over and saw me answer the door and was like, "oh your mom said bla bla" when i know that my mom didn't say that. it was like fuck u. she should have just asked me.

WIN WIN.
man i thought this thread was about actual tech support. which is really fucking funny. especially if the person on the other line is from based off some other country. For one you cant understand a thing on what there trying to help. There accent is to much for you. Companies need to stop bullshitting and stop hiring tech support people in other countrys.
As for your internet connection. Perphaps you can give this person a hand even if she is an airhead. Ask her how is she going to use your connection. and come up with an agreement.
if it was a guy he would be at the computer now in stead of you
right?
huh?

first it starts off with school projects. then it goes to youtube. then it goes to DC++, then torrents.
and if she accidentally downloads "Mandy Moore Entire Collection.torrent" and it's a trap from the RIAA, the person who is paying for the connection gets the fine ($1 zillion dollars)

Im with suspicious here Jamie. In the UK, I'd say yes because they are relatively leniant at the moment on downloaded material.
That's not really the case in the US, where they could bust down your door at any given minute.
rofl. we did warn you about this the first time you posted you needed help getting your internet connection hooked up with your wireless router. well it looks like you have your router talking, so congratulations on that.
but here's the big question. how do you know she wasn't leeching off your network, and then felt guilty so she came up with some lame excuse of a story like that? she could look like a dumb blonde, but she could be this ultra 1337 computer techie n3rd that knows how to hack through routers and do some insane crazy stuff.
but like vandit says ...... anything she does on the net, you're held liable for it. so if she is a frequent visitor of chickdump.com, then records show your IP address is visiting it. now do you want to be responsible for that?
actually our neighbors are using our internet connection through the wi- fi , my dad gave them so IP addy so they can use internet through their own computer
and we let them using it for free
i got one of my friend who's living in a building and one of the neighbors is letting him through the wi-fi using the internet connection
i think as long as u set up a password and stuffs it's totally safe , that's not a big deal for u or?

i hate it when girls talk like that..
+1 on letting her sign a paper so you cant be held responsible for shit she downloads..
hmm yeah 20$ bonus
ROFL jamie...personally i wouldnt do it with the current climate of the RIAA and the potential that anyone with an internet connection is liable for EVERYTHING that flows in and out. thats not set in stone but there is a very good potential for it in the coming months. although i do know a way you could easily make it so that you can still get her on it and she cant do shit other than browse the net and use IM applications.
