7 Elevens Turned Into Kwik E Marts

Over the weekend, 7-Eleven Inc. turned a dozen stores into Kwik-E-Marts, the fictional convenience stores of "The Simpsons" fame, in the latest example of marketers making life imitate art.

Those stores and most of the 6,000-plus other 7-Elevens in North America will sell items that until now existed only on television: Buzz Cola, KrustyO's cereal and Squishees, the slushy drink knockoff of Slurpees.<-------(neat!)

It's all part of a campaign to hype next month's opening of "The Simpsons Movie," the big-screen debut for the long-running television cartoon, which loves to lampoon 7-Eleven as a store that sells all kinds of unhealthy snacks and is run by a man with a thick Indian accent.

The monthlong promotion has been rumored a long time it's hard to keep a secret known by so many suppliers and franchisees but 7-Eleven managed to keep the locations of the stores quiet until early Sunday morning. That's when the exteriors of 11 U.S. stores and one in Canada were flocked in industrial foam and given new signs to replicate the animated look of Kwik-E-Marts.

The U.S. locations where a 7-Eleven store was transformed into a Kwik-E-Mart are New York City; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Burbank, Calif.; Los Angeles; Henderson, Nev.; Orlando, Fla.; Mountain View, Calif.; Seattle; and Bladensburg, Md.you can read the rest here:

Did the only hire Indians to man the cashiers?

If I saw one I would probably do a double take and get into an accident.

Lol.

Australians are crimz DOWN TO THE BONE!

In the mid-1990s, two breweries released their own "Duff Beer" in Australia until legal action by the creators of "The Simpsons" and the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. took the beer off the market.

I still sort of remember when it was made here in the late 90's or some such and giggling about it, thinking I should buy some for the funniness value alone.
Now I just kick myself realising that it's worth a damn fortune (ebay scams not withstanding!)... kind of like google shares...

At my age in the late 90s, I was way more concerned about the contents of the bottle/can, rather than it's future value. But yeah, now I feel like a tool for not grabbing a couple now... :/

Well fuck, who knew it would be an investment

Yeah, who am I kidding.
That much booze left lying around at that age would have gotten sunk quicker than installing fly screens on a submarine.

lol, i saw those at work overnight. good shit indeed.

i personally like the one of Chief Wiggum next to the trojan condoms.

oh, and the chili dog phrase was great.

btw, whoever took those photos knew what they were doing - especially capturing that huge guy right next to comic book guy.

(oh, and there was another fat dude they got next to homer...classic)

I'd fucking drive there if when I get a squishie the clerk asks "would you like vodka with that?"

I feel comfort in knowing that long after movie banners will be gone, the permanent fixtures, namely Apu's will still remain right there - behind the counter.
