KarateKid Official Transformers Review

ATTN NO SPOILERS FROM ME

Just watched at Morningside & 401, No nerds at all and just the thugz

The film was outstanding! I myself give this 9/10, the only flaws IMO was the typical Hollywood cheesy love scene in the middle of a battle scene. The ultra fast editing and camera shots done by Michael Bay was a little too annoying from time to time. Example: scenes that did not need this editing effect, he would apply it. (Sam walking on the streets or some shit)

GO WATCH THIS SHIT ASAP!

fucking nerds, they're annoying, cheering for stuff that most don't get, make the rest of us look like idiots because we're not getting "it".

sorry IMDB lacked some serious info .. the movie is called Cloverfield

sounds like another Alien blockbuster but ala. Blair Witch Project..

Recently, it has come to light that JJ Abrams will be producing a film project currently know as Cloverfield. The first official teaser trailer has been attached to prints of "Transformers" without a title. A post on Ain't It Cool News shed more light on the project, saying it involved an alien/monster called "The Parasite" and the movie is filmed with handheld cameras.[1]

quote:

Cloverfield is a 2008 film being produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by Matt Reeves. The film is scheduled to be released on January 18th, 2008. The premise is a giant alien known as "The Parasite" invades Earth and it is filmed entirely with handheld cameras. [1] Also known is that the movie isn't even done filming and the trailer was filmed before the movie. Not much is known about the movie, and it has been widely regarded as a secret movie.

[edit] Teaser Trailer

A teaser trailer was shown prior to the screening of Transformers. The trailer consisted of raw camera footage. During the trailer a group of young adults were seen throwing a party for a friend who is moving. They feel vibrations and assume that it is an earthquake and quickly evacuate to the rooftop. Once there, they see explosions and debris flying. At the end the Statue of Liberty's head hits the street right in front of them. The title of the film was not shown during the trailer. [2]

the japanese bashing was uncalled for though ... the japanese did invent transformers.

I was the first to BOO that cheesy love scene and the theater followed after.

I saw it here in Singapore last Friday...dunno why they got it first and I was pumped...I couldn't remember the last time I was this excited for a movie.

Anyways it did f'ing rock it had everything EXCEPT THE THEME MUSIC...the first time I heard the transforming noise I went bananas...that NEEDS to be my ringtone...yeah yeah...i am nerd bla bla..it really was awesome.

The only people making any noise in this packed theater in downtown SG was our rowdy group of 2 Canadians and bunch of Aussies all of which were drunk...go see it, its not going to win any awards. BUT it was just ALOT of fun...

Seriously it was surreal.

THIS MOVIE FUCKING ROCKS...MOVIE OF THE YEAR..........

Posted by Tunnel Rat on Jul-04-2007 02:34:

I can't f'ing wait to see this movie. I've heard nothing but stellar comments about the special FX. Plot is supposedly lacking(?), but so was the cartoon.

Now all I need is a G.I. Joe movie...and the circle will be complete.
Masters of the Universe ----> Transformers ----> G.I. Joe???

...and I want stellar casting for Scarlett and the Baroness.

I love this thread, it just feels oldskool-ish, 2003 to me

Got a total nostalgia feeling (strangely) while reading the posts and responses. ^5

I cant wait to see this movie this weekend (i hope)

wow I'm actually quite surprised many of you are gushing about this movie. I'm not going to say it was terrible, but I think it was pretty uninspiring.

The action is good sure, but it's incredibly confusing and the transformer designs are too busy. There were many scenes where I could just not tell, for the life of me, what was going on. I do, however, fully expect it to win or be nominated for a SFX Oscar. The effects are great but the way Michael Bay chose to shoot them oftne produces a confusing scene. Does anybody ever just let the camera SIT STILL anymore?

There are so many cliches and stereotypes in the movie too. Shia Lebouf is a good actor and he is funny at times, but the Taco Bell dog pissing on Optimus Prime's leg to which responds, "My bad"? Bernie Mac's elderly mother character flipping him the bird? If you like that kind of comedy, it might be mildly amusing on first viewing but I don't think this movie will make a lasting impression on most people.

It's riddled with horrible character development on both the humans and the Transformers and there is just way too much comedy. Starscream has one line, Ironhide has maybe 5 lines, Megatron has about 3 or 4 lines. Optimus Prime talks a lot and sounded great but his dialogue was again, poor. The movie could have taken itself at least HALF seriously but I guess the studio was more interested in promoting new American military equipment or getting the tie ins on screen enough (did anybody understand why the Mountain Dew pop machine turned into a transformer?)

Some people just want a big dumb action movie with exploding shit all over the place with bad one liners that get tired after one viewing. That's fine. Others, like me, would prefer more crafty humour, character development and coherent action scenes (like in the old Stars Wars, Indiana Jones, first Matrix, etc). This new TF is definitely option A and yet another example of how current Hollywood movies largely fail to capture my imagination these days. I was kinda hoping they'd treat my favourite childhood property with more intelligence and seriousness but in the end, they can make more money with paper thing plotting and goofy comedy that appeals to the most people possible and especially to those who just want to be entertained with eye candy.

It's watchable but forgettable and will probably offend many of the hardcore Transformer nerds. Why did Optimus Prime have to have lips again? This movie probably would have broken my heart if it had come out in the late 80s.

Love Poundin' Sensation

I saw this last night with my b/f, and honestly on the drive home, I was wishing my car would transform into Optimus Prime.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Jul-04-2007 21:38:

did anybody notice some of the things I did during the movie? I don't know, maybe I should pluck that pickle out of my ass.

I would really like to watch the last hour (crazy action) again soon though.
