My wallet is crying

Just picked up my first set of DJ equipment, trying not to think about how much it cost me :P

Bought a Behringer DJX700 (yes, i know a lot of people say it sucks but it was a good price and i got a warranty so if it does fuck up I'm in the clear) - also I bought two Pioneer CDJ-800 MK2's.

I'm excited, but now broke - as I also bought my first car this week.

Someone say something to make me feel better about the purchase :P

haha nah it's sweet - I spent all day just fucking around on it but I'm getting the hang of it, woo excited.

Anyways you prob don't care, but yea :P

You can't make this thread and not tell us how much you payed.

Yeah true that.

$385 for the mixer

The CDJ's I got from JB, they were advertised @ $1,395 a pop and i said to the guy what deal could you do for me. I got two brand new ones with a 5 year warranty for $2,480. Which means I got them for $1,240 each (warranty included)

I'm pretty sure I didn't get ripped off.... I hope? lol

I hate to do this to you...but you could have got them for $1000 each at one of the specialist DJ stores like Factory Sound or Store DJ.

Don't worry, we all get ripped off at one time or another, just learn from it as I sadly did...three times.

Why has your username been DJ Patski for a year if you just bought your first pair of decks?

Store DJ, wtf.

I've been looking on that site for months on end and I havent seen any CDJ's in-stock there.

Also I've been producing on Fruityloops & mixing on Ableton/Virtual DJ - I've also been using equipment at mates places from time to time.

Come to think of it, if I could change it to just Patski, I would.

I apologise, you're right...Store DJ doesn't stock Pioneer.

..but you got what I meant.

I remember going in there one day and interrogating them as to why they don't stock industry standard.

Yeah I don't understand it :/

Nothing too glamarous, just set it up on the lounge room bench whilst I get my proper table/DJ area sorted out - wewt.

Congrats on the setup.
I like the look of those new 800s.
In fact... I am in need of some CDJs.
So where abouts do you live and do you lock your doors/windows?

haha, totally. even as a total noob i could tell they were rubbish! still, for all its poor quality, i didnt have a single tech issue the entire time i had it.

Yeah when it's time to upgrade the mixer I'll buy a DJM, I'll see how I go with this one

I actually browsed through the effects last night, most were actually complete rubbish - a few cool ones however

Yep, do yourself a favour there!

Still, that mixer should do the job for now. Meh the efx are crap but there's no need to use efx till your ready. By that time hopefully you'll have a 600.

Posted by DJ Patski on Jul-05-2007 01:20:

Yeah well I've spent enough money on the DJ equip for now, so I'll see how I go.

Like I said, I also bought my first car - so still got insurance and whatnot.

I'm surprised to see people recommending DJM 600's.

Even though they're in so many clubs, in my opinion, the sound quality is rubbish, and the faders too loose. Also they seem to bleed very readily.

wow that behringer looks like a djm almost.

I think Behringer intentionally tries to copy the look of all Pioneer's products so that people will see them side-by-side at a shop and say "they look the same, but this one's $300 less!".

I suppose it's kind of like how Stanton and a few others have copied the layout of the Technics 1200.

Yeah I saw in Alans Music, they had Stanton CD decks that looked like a duplicate of the CDJ.
