Ableton EQ4 question

Hey guys, I've been using EQ4 for a while now, I was wondering if anyone has a good idea on how to set it up so that it's curves mimic a Xone 92's.

Any help would be nice.

I don't remember how to do it, but I know there is a tutorial I read on the ableton forums. Might want to search there.

lol no thanks really dont like it's EQ setup.

Zild, I've searched on google a bunch and found nothing, I'll try there, but searching those forums is a pain.

Check the manual...

High: Infinity to +6
High Mid: -30 to +6
Low Mid: -30 to +6
Low: Infinity to +6

250,350,2K,2.5K

Yeah I just stumbled upon it one day. They had a bunch of settings for different mixers. But it looks like someone posted the specs.

These are really the key values I was looking for.

That reminds me on the Xone you can leave the low mid alone if you prefer to use three EQs instead of four. Thats for everyone who whines about how the 4th EQ is unnecessary.

Hey Clovis, let me know how that works out for you. I've been tweaking the EQ8 (with 3-4 ranges active) for weeks and I can't get it to sound quite right.

what I like best is using waves Q3 ...
- high pass (mapped to bass knob)
- low pass (mapped to high knob)
- mid freq (mapped to mid knob)
- mid width (mapped to another knob)

works pretty much the best

Most of the settings I see here posted are right theres one part of the xone92 manual that i remember reading where it had a differential Q point through the various gain range. It takes a bit of tweaking but you can range and map the Gain + Q (filter curve shape) to one midi knob. Then you get a similar sound. Slip the eq8 module into a efx rack (Ableton 6 +). - cheers

good idea to set up a macro like that for 2 seperate controls. however they are using EQ4 so they dont have live 6 yet .

i recommend eq8 to all you guys so you can set a scale for your set up...otherwise eq4 will only go +/- 12db (or around there).

Thats really useful information, thanks. I have a follow-up question though I thought that the Xone EQs all went to infinity. Is it different between the 62 and the 92? 3D?

They are different... the 92 doesn't have full cuts, the 3D does. Not sure about the 62.

All specs are in the manuals, which are on the Xone site.

92 has full cuts on the highs and lows, just not the two middle eq's
